Holcombe set to defend EnduroGP Championship lead at Hawkstone Steve Holcombe will defend his lead in the 2017 FIM EnduroGP World Championship this coming weekend at his home round of the series at Hawkstone Park in the UK. Steve goes into the British race not only as one of the favourites to win, but also with a chance to claim the 2017 EnduroGP World Championship title. With the Enduro World Championship returning to the UK for the first time since 2008, the event at Hawkstone Park is hugely important to Steve as he aims to win his second consecutive world enduro crown. Holding a 37point lead over championship rival Loic Larrieu, Steve is focused on increasing his advantage while doing all he can to try and secure the title in front of his home fans. The event at Hawkstone follows a different format to the world rounds before it this year, with a sprint enduro on day one and a gruelling three-hour cross-country on the day two. Taking the difficult decision to miss this year’s ISDE, Steve has been able to train extensively in recent weeks, readying himself in particular for what is expected to be a gruelling cross-country race where focus and stamina will prove all-important. The conditions at the UK event will also be drastically different from the hot and dusty previous rounds, which should also favour Steve as he excels on tougher, slippery terrain. Round seven of the 2017 FIM EnduroGP World Championship takes place at Hawkstone Park, UK on September 23-24.
