HydroGarden Weston Beach Race - 14 October 2017

Snow secures 9th in Hydrogarden Weston Beach race

A massive turn out for the 2017 Western Beach Race saw over 800 riders take to the beach for Sunday's main Solo race. With the weather on side and tens of thousands of spectators lining the fences the race was in its finest form for a long time.

After 13 years Alex Snow rolled back on to the beach for only the second time in his career to take on the 3 hour long challenge.

A reasonable start saw Snow up inside the top 15 but a few incidents with the early lap carnage saw him drop back. After the first pit stop and a change of gloves and goggles Snow soon picked riders off moving forward. After the two hour mark was up inside the top ten pushing for 7th place, but a third pit stop for a "splash and dash" of fuel cost him some time finally bringing it home in 9th position. With all things considered in the lead up to the race, a respectable finish it was when he wasn't even sure if the recent wrist injury would hold up for such a punishing race.

" I'm reasonably happy with a top 10. Of corse is have liked to be closer up the front but after no preparation for this race and kinda just hoping my wrist would be ok it's not so bad. I'm bloody tired now but look forward to doing it again next year but being in decent shape this time! "- Alex Snow

Due to the lack of bike time Alex will miss this weekends Enduro GP of Germany and focus on the final BEC round in Theford in November.
