WOR EVENTS WULFSPORT WINTER HARE SCRAMBLES 2018 “All good on 4 at WOR” WOR Events hosted the 3rd and the penultimate round of the Wulfsport Winter Hare Scrambles Enduro series last weekend at the club’s winter and weather proof Llandrillo forest in North Wales. A very well-designed track that was ram packed full of trails, fire roads, technical sections and lots of ups and downs with big downhills and long gnarly climbs offering the riders lots of changes in elevation. The weather stayed kind too with good temperatures, no rain and no winds, the week of previous rain though had left the underfoot conditions slippery and wet in places, all just adding to this “proper” welsh forest Enduro circuit. The track was 5 miles a lap of action-packed forest enduro for the WOR Quad folk. A 12 :30 start saw the quads take on the challenge ahead and blast into the North Wales countryside. The 4x4 Expert class was topped by John Robson from Tom Jones as Runner Up with Graham Guy in solid 3rd place. All those guys completing 7 laps each of the testing, full on Welsh forest Enduro course. Bradley Price won the 2wd Expert quads as the only one in class to finish. Derek Burns and Kev Jones took the 1st two spots in the 4x4 lites with Neil Martin lucky to finish in 3rd place after causing some damage to his quad with a diff problem. The 4 x 4 Clubman class was won by Sean Welleans from Paul Huxley and Danny Gilligan with all 3 riders giving their all. Welleans being the only rider in class to complete 7 laps. Gilligan got 3 punctures and still survived.
The Quads all did well with many a determined ride taking place throughout the 2-hour race time. To cap off, this was another quality WOR Event with the winter conditions proving not a problem for Steve Ireland and his Trusted team to deliver a slick and well-oiled event. Steve has recently increased the numbers of helpers, staff and marshals on the WOR squad and it stood out a mile as all pulled together to give the riders that knowledge they were in good hands to enjoy their days sport. The 4th and final round of this WULFSPORT WINTER series, a double pointer, takes place in 2 weeks’ time on 4th MARCH at another one of the clubs unmatched venues, Carrog Isa near Llangollen, where a fantastic 6-mile lap of pure old school Hare and Hounds farm, mountain terrain will await the riders and racers for a weekends action WOR always ask for massive thank you to go out to the staff, land owners, helpers, medics, caterers and more importantly than ever, the riders for supporting the events.
