Enduro
Symphonies in Sanremo
The Italian Championships - IMF Cup / Italian Cup Enduro Maxxis arrive in the
city of flowers
The Italian Enduro Championship arrives in one of the most famous, beautiful
and renowned cities of Italy, Sanremo, which, after hosting last week another
major event like the one in Milan - Sanremo, is ready to savor the scent of two
wheels, welcoming the masters of national and non-national offroad.
The second round will see 240 riders at the start: Sanremo is in fact marking
another important record of presences for the Italian off-road after the one
recorded in the inaugural stage of Passirano.
A really positive trend for the highest Italian championship, with many fans
that will animate the Italian Cup (over 140 members) and many champions of the
specialty that will give us a full day of entertainment for the Italian
Absolutes.
The Ligurian stage will see the start, in addition to our Alex Salvini,
Davide Guarneri, Andrea Verona, Rudy Moroni, Thomas Oldrati, Davide Soreca,
Matteo Cavallo and many others, the world champion EnduroGP 2017 Steve Holcombe,
we will have pleasure to have our guest also at the next appointment of
Castiglion Fiorentino.
The Beta bearer will be the protagonist of the category reserved for
Foreigners along with many other champions of the Enduro world champion Matthew
Phillips, the Junior World Champion 2017 Brad Freeman, Jack Edmondson and the
former cross trainer Christiphe Charlier.
Focusing on the actual competition, the entire logistics area, departure and
secretariat will be set up at the Italo Calvino promenade, just 100 meters from
the Casinò di Sanremo, which will put at your disposal a voucher equal to 10
euros to spend inside .
From here, Sunday, March 25 at 08.30 the first athletes will leave the stage
to start the challenge number two of the 2018 season. Leaving the city, after
only 10 minutes from the start, it will be time to open the gas for the more
technical test and spectacular of the tricolor offroad scene: the Extreme Test
X-CUP Maxxis - Galfer. The Extreme will be developed on a natural area, with
challenging sections of mule and undergrowth. After the test, a transfer of
about twenty minutes in the Ligurian hinterland will accompany the participants
to the locality of San Romolo, where the external CO will be located.
Immediately after the assistance, the Enduro Test Just1 will be tackled, very
technical and demanding. Afterwards, we will return to the sea, with a transfer
almost entirely downhill to Arma di Taggia; here the athletes at the start will
compete in the Airoh Cross Test designed entirely on the beach in front of the
city. A sandy ground will therefore determine who will be the fastest athlete of
the tested test valid for the homonymous Trophy. The whole route will be about
60 km long (to be repeated 4 times) with a difference in height of about 1000
meters.
Directed by this important event the historic and solid Motoclub Sanremo,
which is taking care of the smallest details of the event that will officially
open its doors Friday, March 23, when the paddock will begin to animate the
colors of Enduro.
Saturday, March 24, the program provides for the usual checks from 13.30 to
17.30, with a briefing at 18.00 at the awards ceremony. Hand at the agenda,
however: at 17.30 you can not miss our special autograph session where you can
meet your favorites for a poster and a souvenir photo!
The Sanremo weekend is really full of events. At the Airoh Cross Test we will
be able to see the Enduro Sprint guys in the saddle at 125 2t that will take the
secrets of the great champions of the specialty followed by the FMI coach Andrea
Benedetti, who will give them advice and suggestions to learn the best art
Enduro.
But let's move on to the points classification. After the opening test of
Passirano, the situation in the league is still very open. The two matters of
Brescia, Alex Salvini and Andrea Verona, are ready to give us another good
fight.
The bolognaese rider of the JET Jolly Zanardo Team, back from the not easy
first test of the EnduroGP World Championship in Finland, showed immediately the
excellent feeling with the new bike, the Husqvarna 450 4t. In good shape also
one of the promises of the national Enduro, the young Andrea Verona, ready to
redeem after the victory escaped for a few seconds in Passirano. Vicenza, in
addition to occupying the second absolute position, is currently in command of
the Junior category, followed by Matteo Cavallo and Matteo Pavoni.
Ready to redeem Davide Soreca, home rider in this leg of Liguria. The
Bordighera rider, after breaking his hand in the inaugural round, wants to take
and grab the highest step of the podium that escaped last February 25 just
because of the injury. In spite of everything the TM driver managed to finish
the test and conquer the 300 class, putting behind him Deny Philippaerts and
Luca Marcotulli. Another very interesting class will be the 250 4t with Davide
Guarneri, winner of the stage in Passirano, ready to defend the championship
lead by two handcuffs like Rudy Moroni and Manuel Monni.
In search of the redemption after an unlucky start marked by the withdrawal
in round 1, Gianluca Martini, ready to undermine the winner Maurizio Micheluz
for the conquest of the 250 class 2t. in the eighth of a liter, head of the
classification for Riccardo Crippa, followed by Roberto Rota and Niccolò
Scarpelli, while the 450 brings the signature of the absolute leader Alex
Salvini. Behind the Bolognese there are 17 and 15 points Thomas Oldrati and
Oscar Balletti. The class reserved for young people speaks Sardinian with
Claudio Spanu, while the Australian flag is beating the Foreigners category,
where we find Matthew Phillips.
With the Champions of Italy do not miss the appointment with the FMI Cup
which since last year rewards pilots with a Ranking between 90 and 129.99. In
the 2nd class, first place for Sonny Goggia; the 4t is instead in the hands of
Eric Rebellato.
In the five classes of the Italian Cup we find at the top of the championship
classification Manuel Dolce (Cadetti), Cristian Capocci (Junior), Andrea Fossati
(Senior), Simone Fiaccadori (Major) and Paola Riverditi (Lady).
The Italian Championss are also synonymous with the Airoh Cross Test and X-CUP
Maxxis - Galfer Trophy. In the challenge reserved for the tight tests, Andrea
Verona is currently in the lead, while the Extreme man after the Passirano round
is Thomas Oldrati.
