THE PUTOLINE EUROTEK EXTREME RAVINES Helmsley’s Duncombe Park - the home of Extreme Ravines - was once again the setting for this weekend's 4th round of the 2018 Fast Eddy ACU British Extreme Championship, In it's 4th year EXTREME RAVINES is unique in the championship with it's long single lap format controlled by check points. Unlike a short multilap course there is no opportunity to develop lines - everything in the Ravines must be tried and nothing can be trusted. A brief heat wave had subsided and weather was warm with some heavy showers which made some parts of the course very interesting . At 9.30 the riders were flagged away in a hare scramble start, The Championship/Pro class had 22 check points Expert and Elite Vets 16, Clubman and Vets 10 and Sportsmen and Youth 8,
Jono Richardson on the BETA was the first of the Pro riders to get into the moor gullies but he made a mistake and Billy Bolt (ROCKSTAR HUSQVARNA) - showing no evidence of the knee injury that put him out of the last Sprint - legged it into the lead enroute to check 2.
Refueling has proved to be crucial in the Eddy's Xtreme series and the current champion Billy Bolt has benefited from a disciplined approach in the past so while he topped up Jonny Walker (Right KTM Red Bull Factory racing}) took the lead with Bolt second and Paul Bolton (Eurotek ktm) 3rd, As the long day wore on Billy Bolt once again regained the lead by the 3rd inner loop and as the race entered the final third he had pulled out a 1 minute lead over Jonny Walker which proved to be a winning margin, Jonny Walker was second and Paul Bolton put in another great performance to finish 3rd . Luke Flack on the Acklams Beta won the expert class from Joe Deakin (KTM). The two riders were neck and neck on the garlic hill with 6km to go to the finish but Luke pushed hard and stretched out a 42 second winning margin . Sam Ludgate (Eurotek KTM) was 3rd In the Elite Vet’s Kieran Hankin was the winner 36 seconds ahead of Harold Crawford and Andrew Reeves in 3rd, Mick Boam won the Vet’s from Mark Houson ,
The Sportsman and Youth routes missed out some of the more difficult sections but there was plenty of beef in the pudding. Jamie Williams won the Youths from William Stansbie and Richard Moorhouse on the bank of dad Sherco was 3rd. In the Sportsman class Jack Winn was the victor from Chris Brown with Robert Allen in third . Dirtbike-action would like to thank all the marshals and check point personnel without you events like this would not be possible . Don’t forget the series moves to a brand new venue in Cumbria on the 20th
may for the Wulfsport D3racing HAWKSHEAD EXTREME , entries are available now
