Jamie McCanney retains Enduro 1 World Championship lead
Larrieu secures double Enduro 2 podium result in Portugal
Less than a week after their solid outing at the Spanish GP, the Outsiders
Yamaha Official Enduro Team wrapped up round three of the 2018 FIM Enduro
World Championship in Castelo Branco, Portugal with a win and three podium
results.
Successfully battling through the dry and dusty conditions of the
Portuguese GP, Jamie McCanney was able to retain his lead in the Enduro 1
World Championship’s provisional points standings. Securing victory on day
one following a faultless performance, on day two the WR250F powered rider
claimed a strong runner-up result in the 250cc class.
Still
recovering from his recent wrist injury, Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team’s
Loïc Larrieu put in a steady performance in Castelo Branco. Feeling less pain
on his injured wrist, the WR450F mounted rider collected two third place
Enduro 2 class results in the dry and demanding conditions of the GP. Looking
to take full advantage of the three-week break in the series, Loïc has his
eyes set on being 100% fit and ready to battle for the top step of the podium
in the following round of the series in Estonia.
Marc Bourgeois
Team manager
“This third GP of the season has been quite demanding. The tracks were
really technical and we were happy to see Jamie solidify his position as the
provisional leader in the Enduro 1 championship. This was exactly what we’ve
all been expecting him to do. One or two great performances during the season
are not enough to become World Champion. You need to be consistent throughout
the season. Jamie showed some good speed and consistency during the weekend
and we are confident he can retain his pace for the remainder of the season.
His runner-up result in the overall on Saturday impressed us, but it wasn’t
something that we were not expecting to happen. Loïc gave his best over the
weekend and we are well aware he has not yet demonstrated his true potential.
Still recovering from his recent injury, he was forced to stay away from his
training for a couple of weeks before the last two GPs. I am really confident
that he will be able to battle for the top spot in Estonia.”

JAMIE McCANNEY
"I am really satisfied with my performance and the results from the
weekend in Portugal. On the first day I pushed hard and managed to control the
race from start to finish, but on the second day I felt a bit tired. Since the
start of the season I’ve been enjoying a great feeling on my Yamaha and as
the season goes on I feel more confident to push my limits. I’m staying
positive, knowing that there is still a long way to go in the 2018
championship. The level of competition in Enduro 1 is high and it will just
keep getting higher and higher as the season goes on. I would like to thank
all the members of the Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team for their hard
work and for all that they’re doing so that I can be able to fight for the
victory in each race.”
Loïc
Larrieu
"The beginning of this season has been a little bit complicated for me.
The injury on my wrist is not making things easier. Despite not feeling so
much pain over the weekend in Portugal, I still was not able to give 100%
physically. It was really positive that I managed to collect two more podium
results in Castelo Branco, but I know I need to step things up now for the
coming GP in Estonia so that I can remain in the battle for the title. I now
have three weeks ahead of me and I think it is enough time to better prepare
myself so that I can attack the GP in Estonia the way I know I can.”
The Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team return to action in Talin,
Estonia for round four of the 2018 Enduro World Championship on June 1/3.
