Evening Moto Duro
Rhayader MC
13th June 2018

There was another full entry for the Rhayader Motorcycle clubs second evening event of the summer in the form of a moto duro run over two 45 minute legs. The pro class was dominated by two young riders both contesting the world enduro championships, Welshpools Joe Wootton was straight on the pace in the first leg chased all the way by Alex Walton and Lee Sealey and these first finished in that order at the flag, in the second leg Alex took the lead and held Joe off for several laps before the power of Joe’s bigger bike showed passing Walton to take the win and overall honours.

In the experts class Brett Hillman managed to see off the opposition in both legs, first time out Adam James was hard on Hillmans tail all the way to the flag by just 8 seconds. In the second leg Adam took a tumble but remounted to finish third behind Kalem Hicks. Harry Houghton was again the man to beat in the clubman class winner the first leg from John Wilding and Kris Price but it all went wrong for Harry in the second leg when he failed finished leaving Kris Price to step up to win from Wilding, however Wilding’s two second places was just enough to secure overall victory by three seconds from Kris. The two Veteran classes are always hotly contested with Andrew Edwards and Bo Anderson sharing a win apiece in the Over 40 class with Andrew superior time getting the overall victory while Jason Rees kept ahead of Colin Griffiths in both legs to secure the Over 50 win. Trystan Hopkins and Rhys Evans shared the victories in the Sportsman class , Hopkins’ first and second places enough to take the overall prize ahead of Liam Ryland who’s two third places moved him up to runner up overall.

Again the sidecars were a battle between the David Williams / Luke Peters pairing and Jonathan Williams and Neil James, David and Luke taking the first leg while Jonathan took the lead in the second leg before a front wheel problem slowed them to leave a double win for David, while clubman sidecar honours went to Stephen Burdge and Scott Beeching also with a double win

The clubs next & final Evening event of the summer is an Extreme Hare ‘n Hounds that will take place on Saturday Evening 14th July.
