Charlie Evans wins Jacko Memorial Enduro

The Central Wales Auto Club hosted their Jacko Memorial Enduro in the Radnor Forest on the last Sunday in September. The event was final round of the 2018 Welsh Enduro Championship;

The start was at Fishpools where the forestry road parking gave the late arrivals a warming stretch of the legs.

After an Indian Summer of clear skies and above average temperatures the weather on the day was cool and overcast resulting in a 25 mile lap in perfect condition.

Only 2 riders stepped up to the challenge of 5 laps in the Championship class which was a pity as the Experts had a similar schedule and a few more heroes would have added to the excitement. Charlie Evans was on his Offroad Experience Yamaha 450 and Mark Hillier Rees was running in a new Steve Plain GasGas. Charlie's Yam almost let him down by cutting out at the start but he cleared the 20m line under power and he did not incur a penalty. The course was a figure of 8 and with the 2.8 mile test close to the paddock there was plenty of action for the spectators. The Jacko Memorial is a sidecar round so the extra wide course was fast and flowing. With the possibility of a change in the weather the schedules were very generous .

Charlie Evans won all 5 tests to take the Premier and Mark Hillier Rees was the runner up. Brad Williams was the best Expert ahead of Alun Jones with Jack Heath in 3rd. Ian Barnett maneuvered a dual cark 600 XR engine into a Maico twin shock frame to create a monster that won the Classic Experts. Manny Bernardez on a Maico 490 was the fastest Classic Clubman rider on his first test but he DNF'd. Steve Bird on a PE 175 was "in it to win it".

Harry Houghton was the Best Clubman. Thomas Williams was runner up and Jac George was 3rd.

Jonathan Williams and Neil James won the Sidecar Experts 14 seconds ahead of David Williams Luke Peters.

Paul Davies was the Best Expert Vet. Jason Rees was 2nd and Anthony Griffith was 3rd.
