Wayne Braybrook stuck to his guns last Sunday and launched the UK's newest real Extreme Enduro straight to the front of the UK extreme Scene. The six mile lap had some seriously tough Natural Terrain, plus one huge bog which turned out to be a stopper for lots of riders as fatigue set in. Two timing stations were set up on the course, riders transponders relayed split times and real time live timing throughout the event, teams and crew used smartphones to track riders progress which was invaluable on a race of this severity.
Jono Richardson was hot favourite going into this race, he got a great start and led from the front using his trials experience to negotiate the super tough course completing his 6 lap target in 2 hours 15 minutes. Stoked at the finish Richardson said "this is what extreme races should be like". Local Extreme Ace Chris Windle placed runner up in the Pro class showing fantastic speed to stay in front of Beta mounted Jack Spencer in the closing stages. Charlie Frost had a crash early on in the race which seemed to hinder his pace, Frosty settled for 4th pace on the day.

Only two Expert riders managed to complete the required 5 laps. Factory Husqvarna Techy Damo Butler smashed the Expert class ahead of runner up Gas Gas UK hotshot Dawson Marriott. Spike Gilby placed third with 4 laps completed.

Self confessed Extreme Enduro addict Chris Brown took his RAW supported Beta 300 to an awesome first win of 2019 in the clubman class. Browny went on to reserve fuel literally 25 metres from the finish line! North Eastener Robert Allen grabbed second place with Rob Taylor grinding out a fantastic result in third place.

With all the course including the two huge revines now getting some good lines, the big problem area was the super steep sheep track that led onto the top of Hapton hill. The Greasy rock slabs caused problems for many riders, this meant the more able riders had to choose better lines to save time over their rivals, this is a skill set required for Extreme Enduro Events.

In the Sportsman class only three riders completed the 3 lap target. Grant Gillender came out on top with Shaun Downing placing runner up. The Vets class was a battle of Lancashire's finest, Joe Wheeler blitzed the class with a huge winning advantage, Garry Parr placed runner up after having had a break from full time riding. Ashley Jones pushed and lifted his bike around never giving up, and for his efforts third place on the day was a great result. An impressive 10 rider strong Elite Vets Class saw Andrew Reeves topping the class ahead of enduro convert Harold Crawford. Chris Green was delighted to take third place on the day. A small but super keen group of hobby riders tackled the BallBreaker Extreme, Will Reid found himself as winner on the day with a three lap tally getting himself a sportsman upgrade for the rest of the season.

This was the first ever BallBreaker Extreme enduro from RAW Enduro. Protect My Income saw the potential as they stepped in without hesitation to be the headline sponsor. The Event will grow in size and stature to be an annual event. The demands on riders was high, the fatigue rate was even higher, riders never gave up and searched for the finish line, some made the cut, others didn't. What did happen though was history was made as the BallBreaker Extreme earned its place on the UK Extreme Calender.

Massive thanks to all competitors, Protect My Income, Trucktech North East, the hard working RAW marshals, keeping riders safe, DBA Live timing, and the Spectators who turned out on a windy day to see the action unfold. RAW Enduro now focus on the 2019 Rock Oil Championship which fires into life at Driffield on March 2/3rd weekend.
