After a very hot week, the weather conditions at the stunning Grewelthorpe venue near RIpon, were set to be a scorcher over the weekend for Round 2 of the Motul Long Edge 3 Hour event. A new course plotted out by the Edge crew was laid on to give this venue a completely different lap compared to the first time it was ever used in 2018.

The first action of the day in the Motul event was for the Youth riders who were in for a two hour long battle before the temperatures sored! Edge rider Alex Leadbetter continued his winning streak from start to finish, grabbing the holeshot in the Youth event, followed closely by Lucas Travers. Alex had an awesome ride taking the overall win by 2 laps, with Lucas taking a solid second place and Dan Bradley rounding out the podium in third! In the team event in the Youths, Evie Reynolds and Alfie Marsden took the Winners trophy having completed 10 laps of the Youth course. In the Solo Juniors, Thomas Mcguinn had a storming ride out on his 65cc, completing 9 laps of the course. Jacob Bragg had an outstanding ride on his 50cc and grabbed second from Ryan Freeman Jnr in third.

The Motul sponsored 3 Hour Adult Ironman and Tag Team event was packed with talent across all classes. The Expert team class ended up with a good bunch of riders competing. The great spectacle with these team events is when a team is made up of one super quick and one quick rider. This is awesome to watch from the sidelines as advantages can be gained and lost over the period of time out on track. After adjustments to the track, the Edge crew were ready to get things rocking and rolling!

In the Team Novice class Tom Slater and his team mate Billy Matthews had a great day taking the win, and would have actually won the Sportsman class too! Jordan and Jan Lawrence also had a great day taking second and George Howard and George Didsbury secured third. In the Team Sportsman class Ben Ledwidge and Brandon Hunt carried on their winning ways taking the top spot on the podium, with father and son team Rick and James Rial taking an impressive second place home with them, and Mark Button and Danny Balfour rounding out the podium in third. Kris Farrar and Mick Alderson had an outstanding ride in the Team Vets class, winning by four and a half minutes! RG Racing team mates John Leith and Neil Myers also had a fantastic ride taking second place with a four and a half minute lead on third place, Simon Nutter and Tim Reynolds who had to settle for third this time. In the Team Clubman, Phil Dodsworth and Phil Blacka took an impressive win on 15 laps, with Ricky Downs and Jonny Balfour securing second place ahead of Kate Smith and Mike Houghton taking third place. In the Team Expert class, Dan Bewlay and Saul Hirst took the overall win on the day, with a 16 lap tally and the course suiting both riders down to the ground, Dan putting in the fastest lap of the lap of 11.02! Scott "Reggie Mac" Altass and team mate Luke Gorse battled for the full duration, but just didn't quite have the pace of Dan and Saul, so had to settle for second, ahead of Edge team riders Dan Leadbetter and Harrison Utley, who rode their socks off to make sure they grabbed third from RG Racing riders James Gamble and Liam Radcliffe!

The Solos were going to be in for a gruelling 3 hours in the intense heat - but with the right hydration in place, things worked well. In the Solo Novice class, Jonathan Clark has come on in leaps and bounds, his first full year of Enduros and already crept to the top of the board taking the Winners trophy home with him. His mate Anthony Dunhill had to settle for second this time round and Damien Fletcher had a great ride securing third place. In the Solo Sportsman Steve Butterfield was back to his winning ways now he's recovered from his hand injury, Will Howe had a great ride and secured second spot from Ash Hancock who had to settle for third. In the Solo Vets class, Rob Swinbank found life in the old dog (his words!) and took a fantastic win only 31seconds ahead of a generally unbeatable Andy Dean! Colin Mills had an awesome ride taking third place! In the Solo Clubman class James Marwood showed he has settled happily in the class, taking the win two and a half minutes ahead of second place Mick Harris, with Stevie Fitzsimmons rounding out the podium in third, having a storming ride and taking his first podium in the Clubman class this year! Martin Allen also carried on his winning ways taking first in the Solo Masters class, with John Steeples taking the second spot on the podium and Lee Depledge having to settle on third place. Solo Experts saw Matthew Thompson having to DNF, so was left to the brothers - Tim and Ben Pattinson. Ben having to be pitted twice to make sure he didn't run out of fuel, still got the better of his brother, and took the win by nearly five minutes! Tim having to settle for second - his reasoning being he was still suffering with jetlag! Well done to everyone - you all did brilliantly! It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces with such a great atmosphere, the weather really does help! Many thanks to everyone for supporting the event and Edge; a massive thanks to all the marshals for working tirelessly all day! It was great to see so many new and old faces! Let's hope we see more of you throughout the year, along with Mr Sunshine!
