HardEnduroSeries Germany

Gutzeit dominates the second race of the season in Crimmitschau

The organiser in Crimmitschau increased the level of difficulty to the previous year

The HardEnduroSeries Germany came back last weekend to the place where it all started a year ago. With again hot summer temperatures there was a race weekend of the extra class in Crimmitschau, because with the Saxon Offroadcup and a Superenduro on Saturday evening there was plenty of racing action.

X-Grip Prolog Award

The race day began for the 157 participants with the prologue, which always determines the group divisions for the day at ard EnduroSeries Germany. On a special stage the classic Enduro riders had a slight advantage this time. This also shows in the result, because with Tim Apolle and Kevin Nieschalk two riders were at the top who did their training clearly in this sector. Robert Scharl on 5th place and Gutzeit on 6th place were a bit reluctant instead, but this should change on the race day.

Group races - victories for Hentschel and Gutzeit

Due to the heat and the long challenging lap it was decided to shorten the distance to 90 minutes. Nevertheless most of the riders were completely exhausted after this part of the race day. The HET Reinsdorf had put a demanding lap into the gravel pit of Gablenz / Crimmitschau, which was a very exhausting lap and which was right for the title Hardenduro.

In the first group race Tim Apolle and Leon Hentschel fought an exciting duel. The lead changed several times on the 20 minute lap. In the end, however, Hentschel prevailed and secured a place in the front row for the final race. In the second group race it was Blake Gutzeit who did his laps without any mistakes and won the heat ahead of Tobias Wittek.

Finale - Gutzeit strikes back

In the final over 90 minutes or 4 laps further spectacular sections were included on the lap. 83 riders took up the challenge with decreasing heat. Fortunately the predicted thunderstorms made a bend around the track, because otherwise some slopes would have become unbeatable rivals.

Tim Apolle got the best start followed by Robert Scharl and Blake Gutzeit. The South African Gutzeit had a small problem on one of the first mountains and lost some ground. In lap 2, however, he had already taken the lead and set himself apart a bit. Behind him the result levelled off, with Tim Apolle in second place and Robert Scharl in third place on the podium.

The senior classification was again a clear affair for Dirk Peter and Louis Richter won the juniors for the second time. Both of them already set themselves apart from their rivals. In the overall standings, however, the top riders have pushed closer together. Scharl continues to lead with 2 points ahead of the new second placed Blake Gutzeit and Tim Apolle. Also Leon Hentschel on 4th place with 5 points behind has all chances for the second half of the season which will be continued on 11.08. in Vellahn.
