Hundred House Enduro 14th September 2019 at Hundred House, Powys organised by Builth Wells Motor Club Report and images by Tilde Tighe Last weekend saw the return of the Hundred House Enduro, a traditional timecard enduro based in the hills of Hundred House in Mid Wales, organised by Builth Wells Motor Club. This event was highly anticipated after the success of the previous year, with over 170 riders participating in 11 classes over the single day event.
Setting off at 11am on the dot, the Championship class saw only two riders, Charlie Evans and Robert Jones, who placed first and second respectively and gave impressive rides throughout the whole day. The Experts also saw some fiercely competitive riding, meaning that to earn a place on the podium was a huge feat. Nonetheless, the top spot was awarded to Jack Cadwallader followed by Charlie Chater in second place and Roger Holland in third. In the Clubman class, made up of 34 riders, it was evident that a lot of hard work needed to be put in to come out on top, something that Matthew Harries did and more, earning himself first place. Gareth Jones followed in second place, having challenged Matthew all day, with Jac George placing third. With nearly a third of all riders making up the Over 40 and Over 50 classes, there was no doubt that it was going to be an exciting day of racing! However, from the outset it was Jason Rees who set his eyes on the prize and took it, leading the Over 40s and placing first. Paul Davies was not far behind in second, nor was Anthony Griffiths in third, both having rode extremely well. In the Over 50s it was Allan Price who worked hard and earned the top spot followed closely by Tim Cotton and Emlyn George in second and third respectively. Unlike the solo classes, this event was a British round for Sidecars and Classics, meaning that every second counted. With two competitive Classic classes, Expert Twinshock and Clubman Twinshock, there was no shortage of talented riders fighting for the podium places. In the Expert Twinshock class, first place went deservedly to Ian Barnett, second to Tristan Robinson and third to Andy Elliott. For the Clubman Twinshock riders, it was Peter King who took the win with Philip Smith behind in second and John Parker achieving third.
In the Sidecar Expert class, the power team of Mark Stokes and Luke Townsend pulled out all the stops to place first in front of Philip Gostling and Andy Strutt in second and Alistair and Sharon Nevill in third. Last but not least, the Sidecar Clubman class also displayed some top-quality riding and teamwork, but ultimately it was Andrew Scrivens and James Cuff who secured the top spot, with Scott Beeching and Stephen Burdge just behind in second, followed by Jack and Wayne Mason in third.
