Simon Rees Hare n Hounds

Saturday was a busy day for the Rhayader club following on from the morning youth hare n hounds events it was the turn of the adults in the afternoon, with the course lengthen including some boggy bits and the persistent dampness in the air meant the two and a half hour event was going to be tough to end the season off. Right from the start Shaun Buchan was revelling in the conditions with Adam James right on his tail and this is how they remained throughout the event to finish first and second in the Experts category well ahead of the sole championship rider Derek Bawn, all three completing 13 laps. In the clubman class Lister Morris managed to complete 11 laps well ahead of Martin Williams while in the Under 19 class Kris Price fresh from the morning youth event showed tremendous skill in the conditions aboard his 125 to complete 12 laps.

A much smaller than usual over 40s class saw Neil Thomas a lap ahead of Jason Thomas while Martin P Jones secured the Over 50 class by a lap from Gareth Thomas, Gemma Holtham held off Heather Raymond in the Ladies class but the tightness finish of the day was the large sportsman A class where Danny McPhee was just over a minute ahead of Billy Mason after 10 laps. The Simon Rees Memorial Cup (best local beginners) went to Rhayader's Ryan Jones.

As ever there was a battle royal in the sidecar class with newly crowned British Champion Jonathan Williams and Neil James battling with former champ David Williams and Jon Hunt. David took the lead from the start but Jonathan was soon right behind him after several laps eating David's mud, just like Formula One Jonathan made a tactical early fuel stop leaving him clear vision and when the Williams/Hunt pairing had to stop for fuel Williams and James took over the lead to take the flag
