MRS Sherco - British Enduro Championship Last weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 5th and 6th October saw the last round of the British Enduro Championship take place near Aldershot, Hampshire. This traditional Natterjack enduro which has been run for many years now is a must in most enduro rider's calender. It was a difficult weekend for Sherco Factory rider, Jack Edmondson, riding his 3.0 4T was riding with a broken wrist and hand from a crash at the penultimate World Round in Czechoslovakia but he knew that to clinch second in the overall British Enduro Championship and win the E2 class he had to compete in this last round. 'Mission accomplished' on Saturday, Jack knew it wouldn't be possible to ride on Sunday and withdrew from the last day's riding. Even with this injury not only did he finish second in the British Championship but also achieved second place in the Junior Class of the World Championship.
MRS has been a huge part of my success in England and I really appreciate the work and dedication they put into me at every race here on home soil. My Sherco has been awesome all year and I look forward to 2020. Fully recovered from his early season injuries Dan Mundell riding his 2.5 4T Factory Sherco finished the year well although a big crash Saturday put paid to the result he was looking for. His season was marred by the early injury and he was playing catch up for the end of the season but even with missing a round he still managed to finish 2nd in the E1, missing the win by one point! The wrist injury meant the win in the World Championship Youth Class was unobtainable so with the backing of the Sherco factory Dan rode in the Junior Class and finished a brilliant 2nd and 3rd at the last world round which took place at Ambert, France on 27-29th September.
After a brilliant season winning the Junior European Championship on his 3.0 2T Factory Sherco young Jed Etchells finished the year well in the BEC 5th overall and 3rd in the very competitive E3 class. Jed Etchells - "My riding in my second year of racing the British Enduro Championship has definitely improved again. Although I've had quite a bit of bad luck I have managed to get some good results throughout the season, which have improved each time. Hopefully next year I can pull out a more consistent Championship and aim for the podium finish overall."
James Dent was 9th overall both days and 2nd in E2 on both days. James Dent - "The last round of the Championship at the Natterjack for me were a positive end to the year with two solid 9th place finishes and two second place finishes in the E2 class. Overall the 2019 season for me hasn't been great with a few injuries and patches of bad luck but that's racing. Massive thank you to all the guys at MRS for giving us the best equipment and support at the BEC it really does make life easier and more enjoyable. Ride of the weekend must go to Sherco MRS rider Aaron Gordon, who was fighting it out for the Expert win with Jack Edmondson's brother Harry. It really was a case of whoever won last weekend won the championship. Aaron really upped his game, just when it was needed, taking the Expert Championship having put in a test that would have put him third in the championship class! He could not have put more effort into winning this title and now feels a move to the championship is within his capabilities. Aaron Gordon - "That's the 2019 British Enduro season over and it's been an amazing one. It's been very tough at times put it all paid off in the end. With a 1 - 1 finish at the final round, despite many crashes on the Sunday, gave me the E2 Expert Championship overall, the Under 23 Expert Championship and most importantle the overall Expert Championship title. This was all possible because of my amazing parents and sponsors, without them competing in this Championship wouldn't even be possible. Now it's time to start the prep for next year making the big step up into the Championship class."
Richard Tucker had a good weekend and was first and second in the Expert E3 class. Richard Tucker - "That's the 2019 season over for me, it started off looking like it might be my best season to date but ended not being so good with injuries getting the better of me. A big thanks to everyone that has helped me throughout the year, I couldn't have done it without you." Harry Hillier-Rees secured a 3rd and 2nd in the E1/4 stroke class with a 9th and 10th overall Expert. He also gained 2nd in the E1/4 Championship standings.
I managed to secured second in the E1/4 class for the year and top ten overall expert which was my goal. I am now starting to show some good spped and getting to grips with how fast the expert class is. I have to put a big shout out to Martin Rathmell for the help all year and I couldn't think of a better team to be with! Roll on next year!" Youngest recruit to the MRS Sherco team is young Alfie Webb, riding his 125 2T Factory Sherco. Riding under the Marsh MX banner young Alfie turned 16 on 1st September and decided to dip his toe into the waters of the expert class coming away with an absolutely brilliant 4th position. With youth on his side Alfie Webb will certainly be making inroads in the Expert Class of the British Championship next year.
In the last two rounds I decided to move up to the Expert class to give me a taster for 2020 and was happy to have a 6th and 4th. My highlight of the year was travelling to the GP in France and finishing in 8th in class on day one and 12th on day two." The next event for Dan Mundell, Harry Hillier-Rees and Jed Etchells is the ISDE on the 11th - 16th November in Portugal.
