WOR EVENTS WINTER SERIES HARE N HOUNDS ENDURO FINALE
CAVERSWALL COMMON - STOKE ON TRENT
MARCH 15th

"BOLTON WINS THE WOR"

WOR Events final winter round ran last Sunday at the clubs superb Sand Quarry on the Caverswall Common Near Stoke on Trent. Despite heavy rain overnight and even during the end of the days racing the simply weatherproof quarry provided a fantastic days racing for both the kids and the adults.

ADULT RACE - 12 NOON - 2HRS
One of the UK's top Extreme Enduro riders, Paul Bolton was out in action after a long lay off with an injury and was using the event for some valuable bike time and set up of a new Husky 300 machine.

Bolts as he is affectionately Known was in great form and showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field as he led the race from start to finish and went unchallenged for the win completing 19 laps. Runner Up Expert on 18 laps was Will Orritt as the MX type conditions of the Sandy quarry suited his skills as he pulled over a 1 and a half minute advantage over Callum Atherton, another MX rider turned WOR Hare n Hounds star as he got his best result so far in the series.

Tim Forman at 42 is showing no signs of slowing down and was infact Paul Bolton's nearest challenger as he won the Over 40 group by 4 clear laps and matched the 19 laps of Bolts. Runner Up to Forman in the 40's was ERS Suspension man, Andy Jervis with Richard Cole filling out the podium in 3rd place.

Sam Hughes continues his awesome development as a young rider coming through and mixed it with Experts all race as he won the Clubman class with ease a lap clear of his nearest rival, Young Hayden Rainford. Rainford though at 13 is in superb form and did enough with his Runner Up spot to take the overall Clubman title in the WOR Winter series. 3rd placed Clubman on the day was a very impressive display from WOR's top Lady rider, Glesni Jones as she completed 16 laps.

One of the fastest Over 50's riders in the Country comes from Devon and his name is Gary McCoy, he travelled up to the WOR and won the class by almost a clear lap of MX Expert David Orritt and WOR's number one Over 50's Rider, Chris Wagstaff. Waggy not been on a bike since October was using the day to ease in to the 2020 season .. McCoy was on 17 laps with the other 2 on 16 laps a piece after 2 hrs of racing.

North Wales based rider, Dave Birch was his usual determined and committed self as he blasted to the Sportsman win from Series Champion and one of the most improved riders of the last 12 months, 14-year-old Youngster, Ryan Maudsley. 3rd place on the day in class went to Ben Forbes a lap down on the top two on 15 circuits.

Yamaha 125 Mounted Lewis Hurdsman won his class and the overall Youth Winter championship as he continued his development as an up and coming force at the WOR Hare N Hounds Enduro's. There is so much talent under 16 at WOR at the moment its simply brilliant to see. Runner Up on the day was Lewis Taylor with Ewan Cover in a final 3rd spot.

Leon Pemberton dominated the Novice group but only by a 1 minute and 20 second advantage from Runner Up Mark Thompson with Craig Newton a lap down on the top two's 14 laps in 3rd spot.

YOUTH RACE - 9.30AM 1.5hrs.

Earlier in the day a 9.30am kick off saw the kids take to the start line for their 1.5 hr race. The conditions for any kids and small wheels where challenging to say the least but the little enduro warriors all put on a very determined and special display of riding.

The Event was won overall by Charlie Crossland on his 85cc Kawasaki as he, in only his 3rd ever enduro, showed the skills from his very extensive trails upbringing, to mix it with a bit of speed and lead the way home as the only rider to complete 17 laps in the 1.5hr duration. Topping the 13-14 group Crossland was followed home by Beta 125 mounted, Jack Williams who suffered dome mechanical demons but still managed the finish and the valuable points.

Top 11-12 years rider was the brilliant performance of Stefan Richardson with a comfortable gap over Runner Up and still flying no doubts at all, Will Barnett. Matching the top 2 riders on 16 laps was 3rd placed Alfie Lewis as the 307-number rider blasted his way around the epic quarry.

Ashley Hand was flying in the 9/10's as he blasted to a clear 3 lap advantage over the rest of the group, 16 laps to his credit. Bailey Holmes was in 2nd place with his usual brilliant riding and the ever-Improving Connor Redman really found his feet and throttle in the sandy conditions as he blasted to the final spot on the podium on a solid 13 laps also.

Jack Brooks topped the 7/8 and is such a worthy champion with his weekly displays of grit and endeavour matched with improving speed and skills. Jac will certainly hold his own and be one of the front runners as he moves up to the 9/10's for the forthcoming WES 2020 series starting in 2 weeks at BADEN HALL. Leon Carthy was out on a little PW50 just to get finishing points as his regular KTM was in for some hospital treatment.

The Auto class in this race really stood out as these Tiny, tiny guys where simply awesome. Talon Harbour was brilliant to take the win after a long 90 minutes to cover 7 well earned laps indeed and the 1st event win of the year for him.

Jack Forman was unbelievable on his tiny 50 Husky too.. 5 years old , battled full 90 mins and took a brilliant 2nd overall, one for the future most certainly , especially with dad, Tim Forman helping him make it.

Bradley Wilson was the last of the Tiny guys to make the podium as he again showed brilliant metal to finish the tough and challenging race.

Steve Ireland and the WOR team really are where it's at for the Kids racing with proper courses, proper durations and proper development for the riders available, easily leading the way in innovation and raising the challenges safely for the kids. This is a reason they are still after 25 years at the forefront of all off road enduro , closed circuit events for the adults in the UK, the best organisation, best marshals and safety team, best venues by a long shot and most of all an infectious love and desire of the sport from the top through to medics and parts man, you will always be assured a great event at WOR Events.
