Putoline Iron Mine Extreme

ACU British Extreme Championship Round 3

The third round of the British Extreme Championship was held at Woodhouse farm in the old iron mine which closed in 1932;

The conditions where bone dry and very hot as the area had it's hottest day of the year. The course used many of the old mine features . to create hard relentless going of steep hills and descents coupled with the remains of the old mine buildings and a bog for race 2 certainly gave the riders a good work out ,

In the morning race the youth riders took overall control with Ashton Brigthmore (Edge Off Road) and Cynan Jones (AB Motorcycles) out in front with a masterly display of riding; Brightmore won from Jones as both riders clocked up an impressive 13 laps. Henry Life (Wincanton Print)  was 3rd, Bert Boam (RAW Enduro) 4th and Josh Knight 5th. Tom Slater in 8th was the Best Sportsman ahead of Phil Hall and Tom Craggs. Darren Heyes topped the Vets' podium. Chris Salt was 2nd and Scott Booth 3rd.

The PM race was for Championship, Experts, Elite Vets and Clubmen with course changes implemented including a bog which would claim many victims on each lap. Jono Richardson took an early lead with Billy Bolt and Will Hoare in hot pursuit but disaster struck when Jono was felled by a clutch problems which ended his day,

Billy Bolt took the lead but he was pressured for 2 hours by Will Hoare with only a few seconds between them until - with 30 minutes to go - the heat and the going took its toll and Will Hoare dropped back giving the Factory Husky star Billy Bolt the win with 18 laps, Will Hoare (Jarvis Husqvarna Team) with 18 laps was 2nd and Jack Spencer had a fantastic ride to achieve his fist ever Championship class podium on the Beta UK machine,  Mitch Brightmore in 4th was the Best Expert ahead of Lee Sampson and Richard Moorhouse. In 18th Mark Jackson (Eurotek) brought home the Elite Vets ahead of Matty Temple and Jamie Black. In a close battle Jack Winn 20th bested Doug Lote (21) and Charlie Goddard (23) was 3rd.
