Double Enduro2 Podium For Steve Holcombe At EnduroGP Of Portugal
Last weekend the penultimate act of the 2021 EnduroGP World Championship took place.
For the second time this season, Portugal hosted the World event to make up for the German GP, cancelled due to organisational problems linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. On Saturday 09th and Sunday 10th October the two days of competition were held in Santiago do Cacém, a town a few kilometres from Lisbon. The type of terrain that our riders found in all three special stages was mainly sandy.
The Beta Factory Enduro Team riders performed well and confirmed the positive trend of the 2021 season. The British rider Brad Freeman won both days of competition in the E3 Class, confirming his leadership in the provisional Championship standings. In the Enduro GP Class Brad Freeman collected two second positions and also in the Premier Class the British rider leads by several points over his pursuers.
Steve Holcombe, after an injury-plagued season, is returning to full fitness and at the last round of the Assoluti d'Italia and also at the GP of Portugal there were good signs. The British rider rode a consistent and technically impeccable race, without making any serious mistakes or crashes. Steve Holcombe's final score is two third positions in the E2 Class and an excellent and encouraging fifth and sixth place in the Enduro GP.
After the GP of Portugal, Beta Factory Enduro Team now moves to France to run the last act of the 2021 World Championship season. Next weekend, in Langeac, the fate of the Championship will be decided and the riders will see how far their efforts of the whole season have led them.
