Rock Oil Round 1

Words: RAW Media

RAW Enduro Got the start to the season they wanted with a superb weekend of Enduro action at Ellington Banks last weekend. Wayne Braybrook knows this MOD owned land batter than anyone, his experience showed with a fantastic mix of terrain which saw everyone thoroughly enjoy the event from Kids to Pro riders.

Youth riders were treated to the whole ADULT lap after the ground conditions dried out throughout Saturday. Fraiser Lampkin fired his Beta 125 onto the top step of the Youth A Podium despite a couple of crashes by pushing a little too hard. Jasper Fox kept Lampkin on his toes in runner up spot and was the only other Youth rider completing 10 laps. Karl Hancock another Beta rider fired his 22 Championship off to a great start with third on the day.

Jack Wall showed great skills on his 85 small wheel to take the Youth B win from Hard Charging Dexter Hind, Jacob Bragg overcame a first lap slip off to stand on P3 at the finish.

Onto the adult's event, a packed Start area saw Robert Crayston take the holeshot and lead the race all the way to the finish flag. RAW Newcomer Jack Teale fired his ACE supported Gas Gas into runner up spot, with Dawson Marriott taking third place on his JSM supported machine.

The Clubman class is always a close run battle, with some riders moving up a class Chris Bailey topped the class on an impressive 14 lap tally. Oliver Allbones now riding for fun placed runner up, and Sportsman upgrade Ged Higgins was delighted with his Clubman debut third place.

As the race rolled on the dry line was very evident, Ellington is always hard ground and good line choice was critical to a smooth flowing lap around the site. Finding his Flow Neil Marshal started this season where he left off last year, topping the Clubman Vets class. Jason Clarke pushed hard for his runner up place, with Simon Tate talking third on the day. RAW Team rider Hayden Stansfield showed his winter training has paid off by winning the Sportsman Class, just ahead of another young rider Ryan Stoneley. Moving up from the Youth ranks Josh Lister showed his ability to win the Novice Class, Thomas Nelson was runner up, with newcomer Tom Sudall delighted to grab his trophy plate for his efforts.

A superb day was complimented by a slick timing operation, great course layout and design, made possible by all who attended this opening round of the 2022 Rock Oil Championship. Thanks to everyone who supported the weekend.
