Rock Oil Round 2 Wayne Braybrook and his RAW Enduro Organisation kept its latest Brand New
Enduro venue under wraps for months, after endless amounts of meetings, Recces,
and arrangements with some very sensible Tennent Farmers, Catterick Military
Testing ground once Again had an enduro event staged in its simply stunning
location.
Sunday Morning and off went the kids, Fraiser Lampkin had a bar to bar nudge in turn one and came off worse in Youth A. Dead last away the Lampkin Gene soon kicked in as Fra came around the end of lap 1 in P2 chasing down Jack Leonard. Lap 2 and Lampkin hit the front and continued to extend his lead to almost 3 minutes at the flag. Jack Leonard had a strong P2 with Karl Hancock in third. Youth B was smashed by Dexter Hind, his KTM 65 was made to work hard as the diminutive lad from North Yorkshire took the win. Annabelle BOLT placed runner up showing family determination, with Bryce Helliwell following in dad's footsteps loving the tough conditions.
The week preceding the event during set up, the area had heavy snowfall and sunshine, as the weekend wore on the track started to dry in places, although still tough on the lower grounds with lots of wet ruts developing. RAW Enduro Team rider Callum Hughes was holeshot hero on his Beta 250 from the huge Expert start line, Jamie Williams soon hit the front and took the lead with team Steer rider Joe Deakin finding his Rhythm. William's hit trouble at 27 minutes when his Gas Gas had a catastrophic engine failure going bang big time. Deakin then rolled up his sleeves to bash out 8 laps in the 2 hour race. Dawson Marriott had better luck on his Gas Gas taking runner up spot despite having no oil filler cap on as he crossed the finish line. Callum Hughes gave everything he had and was rewarded with third place amongst red hot completion, out of 14 Experts entered. Sam Boyd took the Clubman class win on his Charlton supported Beta 125, William Cawte placed P2 despite electrical gremlins on his Sherco hampering progress.
Finally the Over50 class was headed by 2021 Champion Mark Raynor, Dean Johnson loved his weekend with friends at Catterick taking second place home to Lancashire, Neil Robinson missed the presentation but placed third. A huge amount of work has gone into securing this Military site for RAW Enduro exclusive us e. The key is protection and respect for the ground, along with a close working relationship with the many Tennent farmers. Massive thanks to all who attended, you really did all do your bit taking care of the site, no litter left and this is one area that will allow us to keep using this site. Roll on June when another brand new course runs from the same paddock area. Next Up |
