Steve Holcombe Signs Off On 2022 With EnduroGP Podium Result Beta Factory Racing's Steve Holcombe has ended the 2022 FIM EnduroGP World Championship with an impressive podium result in Zschopau, Germany. Putting in a solid ride in the wet and muddy conditions, Steve claimed a well-deserved third place overall EnduroGP result on Saturday, while also finishing in second and third in Enduro2 over the weekend. Eager to end what's been a frustrating and injury-hit 2022 EnduroGP World Championship on a high, Steve arrived at the seventh and final round in good spirits. A venue he'd previously won at in 2017, the Beta RR Racing 4T 350 mounted rider was quick to find his feet on Saturday. Posting special test times that kept him at the sharp end of the field, Steve completed the opening day of racing with a hard fought third in EnduroGP, while also placing as runner-up in Enduro2. Keen to keep his momentum rolling on Sunday, he won the opening extreme test to take an early lead in the overall EnduroGP class. After four tests he was only one second behind the race leader and locked in a five-way battle for the win. A couple of mistakes ultimately set Steve back as the day progressed, eventually claiming sixth outright and third in Enduro2.
Steve Holcombe: "That's another year in the books! I'm pretty pleased with how I rode this weekend. My pace was good, and I was right in the mix all the way. It was good to get an EnduroGP podium result on Saturday, while finishing on the podium both days in Enduro2. Generally, it's been a tough season, hampered by some injuries, but I kept digging deep and coming back. A big thanks to the team for all they do. I've proved my speed is good this weekend and I can take a lot away from that, for sure. Time to rest up a little now and then get back on it in readiness for 2023!"
