Chater Drifts to RAW Sprint Win
Report: RAW Media

RAW Enduro fired their NEW LOOK 2023 season into life last weekend at Driffield MOD base, where a fantastic weekend of Sprint Enduro Action played out.

An average sprint time of just over 6 minutes was laid on through a variation of fast flowing woodlands, loamy twisty turns, and the odd Tank testing whoop section thrown in for excitement.

Charlie Chater used this event as training taking his Yamaha Experience supported machine to wins on both days. Topping the Championship class he posted some impressive sprint times both days, dominating each test by around 10 seconds. Callum Hughes placed his Sherco runner up both days whilst ACE Suspension's Ryan Crowder opened his title defence with P4 and P3 over the two days.

Bert Boam topped the Expert class on day 1 with some swift times, his move to a 500 four stroke for Sunday was great fun but clearly much harder work than his preferred two stroke. RAW Team rider Josh knight came out fighting both days, Sunday in particular Josh topped the expert time sheets as he got to grips with his Beta 200 machine.

Perhaps the most relaxed yet fiercely competitive class, the Vets is always great to watch. Aaron Crowder described this event as one of the best sprints he's ridden, showing in his riding the top man at Ace won both days. His riding buddy Martin Sandiford out on a borrowed 350 had fun to take P2 and P3 over the weekend, whilst watching Boy Sander his son mixing it up in the Youth class.

Fraiser Lampkin was hoisted up into the clubman class for this first event, straight out of winning the 2022 Youth Hare & Hounds Championship, Fra rolled his sleeves up to win the clubman class both days, showing his pace is on point for 2023. Ben Hamilton and Lucas Travers both posted P2 and P3 positions both days.

Dan Billam took the Sportsman class win on day 1, however his day two ended early as his Gas Gas machine went terminally ill resulting in a DNF day 2. This left Jacob Potts to grab his first Sportsman win at RAW after an average day in the saddle on Saturday.

The Youth class at this first sprint was well supported, Bailey Holmes was on fire on his little 85cc machine taking P1 on day 1, and P3 on day 2. James Meakin was Mr Consistent with a brace of runner up places in a tight finish each day. New RAW Team rider Jack Leonard rocked up Sunday and grabbed the overall Youth day win posting some very respectful times on his 125cc Beta machine.

Finally a shout out to Dean Carter and Joe Carr both taking Novice class wins on separate days.

Rolling on the next two rounds of the Metzeler Super Sprint Series fires into Revesby Lincolnshire on March 25/26TH, where RAW will build on the success of the 2022 Sprint that proved very popular with riders. The very "Muntjac" like test will be extended this year for a little extra ride time.
