Edmondson Racing dominate GBXC Round 1

The Edmondson Racing Beta Team’s 2014 cross country challenge got off to the perfect start over the weekend of March 15-16th. At the opening round of the high-profile national GBXC Championship, the team took the top three positions making a clean sweep of the podium on Sunday’s main race solely for Pro, Expert and Clubman riders.

Winner Lee Edmondson got a terrific start and was never challenged throughout the 2-hour race, taking an impressive Pro class win against the opposition. His 250 RR Factory edition BETA was customised with a highcapacity tank with quick “Dump” fill fuel system which enabled him to complete the whole race with a single sub ten second fuel stop.

Step two on the rostrum went to James Jackman who followed Lee home to an impressive 2nd overall while the teams’ youngster Antoine Criq topped off a perfect 1, 2 and 3 for the team’s 2014 GBXC debut. The result of a first corner crash for Antoine saw him taken down by another rider rendering him in last position as the rest of the field headed off in to the distance. Racing in the Expert class, he soon made terrific progress and at one point passed Jackman during JJ’s fuel stop on the 350RR. Jackman’s considerable racing experience at GBXC style events paid dividends and Criq eventually settled for a highly respectable third place overall together with an unchallenged individual Expert class win.

Saturday’s GBXC Sprint series opener also saw the team perform exceptionally well. Still on a steep learning curve, young Antoine rode impressively to win the Expert class by quite a considerable margin and his time would have been good enough to have placed him 5th in the Pro class. Lee Edmondson and James Jackman Competed in a tough and quality Pro class field with Lee narrowly missing out on third. His eventual 4th was well earned and so too was the 8th place for James respectively. The Team’s BETA bikes performed well and with the reliable and instant electric start systems, all team riders were able to gain great race positions the moment the flag dropped. The ‘Sprint’ format allowed time for Suspension tweaks following Saturday’s racing and saw all three riders completely at ease with their machines come Sunday’s main race around a long fast course which was littered with tough technical sections.

The team wishes to thank its sponsors:
Proseal, Michelin, Putoline, Shoei, Sidi, Rygor, P3 Carbon, DP Brakes and particularly Chris Edwards of CE Mechanical Services who assisted the team throughout the whole weekend. Gracious as always fort heir support, the team hope to continue posting similar impressive performances during the 2014 season.

Team Edmondson Racing BETA debut at Santon Enduro

Team Edmondson Racing BETA had its first full team outing at Sundays Round 1 of the 2014 Eastern Centre Enduro Championship.

A fantastic day in every way with the Event, Weather, Organisation and all others aspects truly first class. The Diss MCC and officials did a sterling Job and even had the results on line before the team arrived home! A big congratulations from us all, and on every other riders behalf too.

Lee Edmondson had a solid start with third on test one but slipped up on test two overshooting a berm and spending a few seconds picking the bike up to finish fourth by a mere 0.2 of a second behind eventual third. The last check of the day was tight on time but with almost a minute to spare he rode home comfortably behind eventual winner Tom Sagar to feel good in both fitness and bike speed.

Our two Expert riders, James Jackman and Aaron Smith had a mixed start with both taking a closer look at the ground on test One, but recovered well on test two to take Second and Fourth respectively overall in class. Both

Riders had an enjoyable and trouble free day from their early outing on the new Beta machinery. James has chosen the 350 four stroke for 2014 and Aaron the lightweight 250 2T.

With Round 1 and 2 of the 2014 Edmondson Racing sponsored BEC series only two weeks away, both riders are looking to improve on today's results and fly the Beta flag to more success.

This weekend's event also saw our newest team member participating in one of his first ever "Time Card" Enduro's. French nationality by birth but living in the UK for the last several years, Young Antoine Criq gave a great account of himself and despite a 20 second penalty for late starting, easily won the clubman class of today's race. With two consistent test times both within a second of each other, a 28 second advantage gained over the second placed rider would eventually give him a total winning margin of 8 seconds on the day. Those sharp and consistent test times would have been good enough to have placed him second in the expert class showing that the young "Garcon" has a bright future aboard the Beta Brand. The up and coming BEC will see him move up the ladder to seek a harder challenge and possible victory in the new "Under 23" division of the expert class.

As always, a gracious thank you to our sponsors and team personnel who turned out to help the guys fly the "Edmondson Racing BETA flag. BEC here we come!
