Hunt wins at Iron Hill
Kingston MCC
SEEC H&H
Iron Hill 14-09-2014
Photos

Last time Kingston were here at Iron Hill it was very different and very wet but today conditions could not have been better and what a cracking lap the Kingston Mob put out, some gnarly technical stuff, amazing sweeping superfast fire roads and great enjoyable forest trails

Championship Class
The Sherco boys were on fire yet again and was great to see Jon Hunt get pressure from Phil Wiffen the whole event and i felt Phil was waiting for Jon to make a mistake and pounce but Jon does not make many mistakes and kept it together for victory over Phil, 3rd was Clive Gammage on a lovely new 125 KTM and without doubt he rode the best i have seen for a long time and made some spectacular but brave passing manoeuvres and i just wish Clive would ride more events as he really does have the talent, Teamsnapper maestro Neil Bowker was 4th and was having a great Witley battle with Rob Carey which i enjoyed immensely, 5th Jason Bowen whom did well considering this is probably his Achilles heel event as it is 100% enduro but also a great learning curve for him.

Expert Class
I think Rob Carey’s dice with Neil Bowker had a great effect on Rob’s class victory as well as being great fun I’m sure, but hot on his heels all day and riding the fire roads like a American oval dirt track rider was Dave Coles (2nd) who seems to be getting faster and better with age and was without doubt the fastest rider on the fire roads all day, a solid 3rd place for Teamsnappers Steve White ..... Steve can be an awkward bugger to write about as quite fickle and sometimes it does depend on what Steve gets out of bed on a Sunday morning... well this Sunday it was racer Steve and was a pleasure to watch and for him to compete and fight, 4th Kawasaki rider Christian Fairclough had a great race with Vet A rider Chris Stanger that both enjoyed and probably upped both their games on the day and am sure Christian learnt a lot more about Enduro from those laps chasing the old boy than he had previously, 5th to Teamsnapper rider Dom Wilson who simply needs to get up earlier and be a bit more organised and try to have some urgency around him (enough said), 6th Carl Lillywhite on that beautiful red and white Honda and i feel he would be a bit disappointed with the result but never less rode well, 7th Teamsnappers Tristan Robinson whom i thought would excel here as very technical in places and he did look sublime over the logs and other hazards but just lacked a bit of pace compared to the above, Richard Ball DNF’d and rightly so as not the best venue to ride with a seriously bad knee/leg injury and also Teamsnapper rider James Meston DNF’d but am uncertain why.

Vet A Classes
Chris Stanger is my best mate as most of you know and without going into detail he had a week that would have broken most of us but Chris being Chris always puts a negative into a positive spin and without doubt he rode out of his skin today and never put a foot wrong and to beat a very on form John Horton into 2nd tells its own story, well done mate and was great to see Christian Fairclough push you hard, 3rd Tom Moore with very few “Offs” , yes Tom Moore not crashing is unheard of especially a pure forest event like today (Well he did crash but not so much lol), Teamsnapper rider James Brown 4th on a new steed a very nicely presented Gas Gas and it looks like they could become a happy couple despite my right hand blisters (nudge nudge wink wink), 5th and a courageous effort from Mick Stradwick as lost his rear brake on lap 1 and will be thankful for a finish and more points and has to be said some great riding under the circumstances, Ian Mitchell 6th whom sometimes is a bit too polite on track and i feel should fight a bit more to keep position as noticed he would let rider by and then be back all over him but having said that he completed 8 laps as did class winner, Great to see Rich Smith(7th) (and Gina) and his mega aggressive riding style and i know he has family commitments but would love to see him ride more, 8th Steve Bryan who rode great but had one bad lap which i feel hindered his progress any further.
Teamsnapper stalwart Birdy (Steve Bird) took the Over 50 class win and had a great event and looked as happy as i have seen for a long time and oozed confidence which was great to see, Colin Cowley not only rode ( do i hear gasps from the galleries) but also finished (more gasps from the galleries) and it was on a 250 ( yeah yeah yeah i hear from the galleries)..... Honestly he rode, finished runner up and was riding a new 250..... 3rd Simon Gatehouse who may not have the pace of the top two but very much looked like he was enjoying the course.

Clubman A Class
Teamsnappers Liam Thomas as usual took a lap to settle and then it was “Bang” off we go and his style was very much suited to the track which was evident to see and took class win with plenty in reserve, 2nd and a far more composed thinking rider was Teamsnapper’s Rob Knight whom is becoming quite a text book rider with his near perfect style and positioning although i am becoming concerned about his father John and his tendency to want and steal my quad ;-) 3rd and a great result for Jamie Moller whom i thought rode without doubt the best for a long time and looked very unlike Jamie of old with some great committed manoeuvres and be good to see riding more regular, Ollie Findlay 4th whom i know very little about except a very pretty lady was cheering him along from the sidelines, Nick Palmer 5th whom has made great steps in a very short time and has the making of a good Expert class rider however i feel he needs to add a bit of pace to complete his armoury so maybe the odd MX event would help (Only my opinion), Teamsnapper’s Alex Mace is sacked for such a dismal showing..... come to think of it i think i sacked him last time out..... and the time before ... ok I’ll give him a another chance as don’t want to be perceived as bullying girls, talking of girls Teamsnapper’s Josh Kirby posted yet another DNF which should read CBFB Can’t Be Fucking Bothered, Come on Josh get your shit together and show us that talent, Chris O’Grady posted a DNF with bike problems i feel (New bike time Chris).

Vet B Classes
Yo Yo Yo what a great ride from Tilf (Tim Newman) with yet another victory and what makes it all so sweet is that Tim had sort of lost his love for the sport a while back and not sure what has happened in his life of recent times but he now oozes confidence, has new bike, making a great effort to stop smoking, has lost weight and life is good for the Teamsnapper rider and it’s also nice for me and Kaka as without fail he gives shout every lap which keeps us on our toes, runner up Andy Sharp whom worked damn hard for that place and i think was on a new bike, 3rd was the Man in the Cupboard Matt Hubbard whom always looks happier and more at home on the pure forest events, 4th to Teamsnappers Martin Turner on that beast of a Yamaha that could be heard munching through the forest for miles and was far too much of a beast for Iron Hill (Come on Martin get yourself a dedicated Enduro Bike), 5th the immaculately presented Karl Robinson whom looked happy enough out there on his Gas Gas , Michael Toussaint pulled out early as was not enjoying the event and could not get into a rhythm and decided its better and safer to fight for another day, Iain Judkins has another crash in front of Kaka (I have told her to stop flashing her boobs from now on mate) and could not carry on due to rib injury and posted a DNF.
Another win for Stephen Scott in the Over 50 Class and only rider in class to complete 8 laps, runner up to the Big Man Hans Gilham who a cracking battle with 3rd placed Mr Happy himself Carl Smye who must have been smiling and enjoying his battle with the Big Man Hans, Neil Marshall 4th with 7 laps and also on 7 laps was Teamsnapper’s Stephen Head whom looks a lot happier on the pure forest type events albeit he was seen and photographed on more than one occasion with his front wheel aloft (Yes really), 6th Teamsnapper rider although a stranger these days Timothy Tubb and his very infectious smile, 7th Ade Wilkins which by Ade’s standards was not a good day at the office, 8th Rob Giles who seemed to have a very steady or probmatic first lap which probably hindered his progress and placing further up, 9th and a great sight for Teamsnapper eyes Dangerous Dave Alexander whom we see very rarely these days and even rarer seeing a BMW on the SEEC circuit and also a big shout to Steve Bellars his pit bitch for the day.

Clubman B Class
Biggest class of the day and very much the championship contenders up the pointed end with newlywed (he will be by the time he reads this)Brad Warton taking the win with 8 laps and times to that of a top Clubman A rider, runner up was Lee Boulden whom interests me the more i see of him as seems to make such leaps and bounds and very much a precise and exact riding style and i feel these two will battle for the rest of the season, 3rd Christopher Warne who is a bit of an unknown quantity but definitely has the tools to upset a few in the championship stakes, 4th Bradley Hale whom i know nothing about but result does not stand as late entry, 4th Harvey Bish who rode as well as his position dictates and good to see as always looks strong early on in events, LFB/Teamsnapper rider Big Ben Young 5th had a 50/50 ride in my opinion as one minute he looked keen and up for it and the next he was a bit head down and a bit frustrated or at least that’s what it looked like to me, 6th place for Rob Mussell which i feel is an error as very rarely rides and when he does he just pussy foots around so 6th place is a fantasy position and i suggest we all ignore (well done Rob ...great ride), 7th Rainer Halsall whom has more bling on his bike than a New York rapper but far easier to listen too, (Apolgies as well Rainer as i got in your way trying to pounce from one bush to another), 8th to a very much slimmed down Tim Lunn and he will be well pleased with a top 10 in such a big field and very much deserved, 9th Ade Wainwright on the Gas Gas, 10th (but late entry so result does not stand) for my good friend Oleg (The Mad Russian) Savochkin who very much enjoyed the event compared to The Natterjack last weekend, 10th Darren Smith (Husqvarna), 11th Dan Moore who seemed to enjoy the course despite huffing and puffing as passed me lol, 12th Thomas Vandy whom i feel did not relish the technical type of course and he was also without the lovely Carly which may have hampered his progress lol, 13th for Seb Bourgoin and his cow bell jingling Beta, DNF’s for Matt Taylor, Gerald Holdway and Nick Spooner. Lance Hindley suffered a knee injury early on and pulled out to stop damaging any further, Peter Reid was simply in an alcoholic trance when he arrived and was in the same condition when he left but somehow managed to put in 2 laps (Hope you had a great birthday weekend mate).

Evo Class
Manny Bernardez took class victory which should not be spoiled by being the only one in the class because he rode it with vigour and determination and the Old Girl did everything he wanted her to do (O’er Madam).

Sportsman Class
3 cheers for Stephen Tull with class victory and very much deserved as very much a determined never give up rider which without doubt helped to victory, 2nd Max Rose, 3rd Alfie Coles who baffled me for a while as saw this bike with Teamsnapper written all over it but did not recognise the rider and then i realised it was Matt Coynes bike loaned to a star of the future with some great young skills akin to his Dad Dave, a great weekend for Woods The Butchers Enduro Team with Adam going 2 places better than Dad with 4th place and looking a lot more confident on the bike (Well done Adam), 5th AJP rider Victor Sousa, 6th Robert Cahill on his very pretty KTM, 7th Peter Laker, 8th Gordon Farquharson from the LFB club, Brian O’Hara 9th whom i always shout encouragement to as always looks so pained but am now thinking it is his natural look (Only kidding Brian), Keith Bicker from PMCRC 10th, James Negus 11th, Jack Gammon 12th.

KINGSTON AND DISTRICT MCC
SEEC TIMECARD ENDURO ROUND 2 IRON HILL

Kingston over the last few years seem to get no luck when it comes to the weather and today was no different with the clouds opening up early and then showers throughout the event but being a true forest event it did not hinder the going although the MX special test was better suited to a jet ski than a motorcycle but made great entertainment for the many spectators that defied the rain with whoops and jumps and puddles that became lakes, the other test was an enduro forest test that was strewn with brash and felled trees and really did require concentration at a very high level.

Championship Class
Max Varney was pre race favourite and showed his intent with a blistering MX test but as conditions worsened the conditions suited one of the best and most consistent all rounders Phil Wiffen and despite it only being his first season in the top class he really showed his skill and true colours here by taking the win fair and square from runner up Max, Bradley King made his long journey up from Dorset worthwhile with 3rd.

Expert Class
No Mark Kirby today so it was left to Richard Ball and Steve White to fight it out and what a contrast in styles with Richard Ball’s very animated aggressive style against the lazy laid back deceptive style of Steve White and today’s conditions without doubt suited the calmer more precise style of Steve and not so good first enduro test from Richard sealed the win and his first in the SEEC for Steve with Richard 2nd, 3rd and very close on the tails of Steve and Richard was Carl Lilywhite who was quickest on two of the three tests but lost lots of time of the final test to drop to 3rd.

Veteran A Class
A great battle between good friends in the guise of Darren Osborne and Chris Stanger and with Chris being very much a thinking logical rider he decided to be the very last rider on the MX test to avoid any backmarkers and that alongside 2 awesome enduro tests was plenty enough to take top spot with Darren just edging 2nd from a rejuvenated Si Beken 3rd.
Vet A over 50 class was won by Paul Armstrong who is very much going through a purple patch and noticeably high on confidence, runner up and a rare outing from Dorset’s Chris Boyce, 3rd Stephen Taylor.

Clubman A Class
Darren Perry is another very complete enduro rider who seems good no matter what conditions or terrain, he may not be the quickest but his skill levels make up for that and took the win quite convincingly, 2nd and a long time coming for teenager Daniel Cooper who has shown so much promise but has been plagued by bad luck the few times i have seen him but i am very confident he will be threat in this class, 3rd for Aaron Dibnah who looked very comfortable out there especially on the MX test.

Veteran B Class
Very much a competitive class this year but a very much rejuvenated Iain Judkins looks like the man to beat and reading his body language he is very happy on his new steed and confidence is running high, it seems that Andy Sharp is always the bridesmaid and today was no exception, 3rd and a great result from Tim Newman.
Vet B over 50 won by Ian Wilson who was not really looking forward this as trying to stay fit and healthy for Romaniacs but never less looked liked he wanted it, 2nd Phil Davies whose animated out of control style was a tad too much for the conditions but a well earned podium, 2rd went to Paul Hart.

Clubman B Class
Very much a battle of the youngsters for top honours and was simply that close it was a shame to have a runner up but victory and his first in the class went to Matt Casey who really seemed on fire today but was chased every second of the event by Nathan Baggott who will do his upmost to reverse positions next time out, 3rd went to David Millar.
EVO Class was won by Manny Bernardez, runner up Andrew Greenwood and Hans Gilham 3rd.

Sportsman Class
Another victory for Martin Delves who was simply in a class of his own but a great battle between 2nd and 3rd between Frederic Torres and James Underhill with James just beating the Frenchman.

SEEC/Teamsnapper Hare and Hounds Championship
Hosted By KDMCC at Iron Hill Liphook 01-09-2013

Conditions could not have been better for rd 5 of the SEEC/Teamsnapper Hare n Hounds Championship at Iron Hill, 6 mile loop of pure forest going and very much akin to a Cross Country terrain but very tight in places and overtaking would need much scrutiny due to the unseen hazards hidden by the fern, bracken and loamy soil which included many felled tree stumps and roots.

Championship Class
George Hayes had a very lonely ride in the Elite class and despite not having the best of starts he found a rhythm whilst bouncing off a few trees to complete 11 laps and take victory and was NOT shocked when told at end of race that his Dad had been taken away by the fashion police and will be charged under the "Not good for eyes act 1980", Si Beken did start race and I am presuming pulled out due to the amount of unseen hazards which could have made his injury worse.

Expert Class
Trials ace Ben Wibberley made a great start which is a major asset here due to the narrow nature of loop but it was like watching hare running away from the greyhound and was not long before the greyhound Mark Kirby got his prey and took command in his very own unique aggressive style of riding that takes no prisoners in its quest for victory, Super smooth text book rider Phil Wiffen had moved past Ben into 2nd and due to his consistent effortless looking style he started digging into The Kerbinator's lead which just made The Kerbinator dig deeper fuelled with aggression that ultimately ended in a big off into a tree, once bike straightened and back on course Phil had a good lead and took control with The Kerbinator chasing him down with eyes as big as saucers and taking such high risk manoeuvres trying to pull in the leader but as much as he tried the mistakes and tiredness were taking its toll but neverless a true warriors response that had to settle for 2nd taking nothing away from Phil who just did what he does best and that is to ride basically perfectly in a super smooth effortless style that others try to emulate but few manage it and that's why another victory for Phil, Wibberley did a great job in 3rd by staying on the same lap as leaders but very much a lonely ride at times but conditions and nature of loop suited the trials ace, 4th went to Ashley Stokes who was at the pointed end for all race but a big off early on made it hard work to catch the top 3, 5th went to Ben Anstie who really is finding a niche in the Enduro world and I thought he would struggle today but yet again proved wrong and a great learning curve for Ben, 6th to Dave Coles who despite having a big off that would have finished most for the day recovered well and completed 10 tough laps, 7th and the biggest crash of the day went to LFB rider and Supermoto ace Daz Lee who approached a hazard a bit too quick and not in the right position made for a spectacular crash and a very hard landing on an exposed stump but LFB riders are made of steel (Did I mention that I am an LFB rider) and was shocked when he brushed himself down and rode away and even more shocked for him to finish, 8th Graham Maunder who looked happy and contented out there but last hour his body language was showing signs of "I am Knackered" which was not surprising as Graham has not ridden as often as he would like to but 10 completed laps which he will be pleased with. Elliot Davies was an early casualty after a tree hugging session went wrong.

Veteran A Class
What a fantastic battle between two title contenders Steve White and Paul Armstrong to see who could crash the most and hit the most trees, Steve got the holeshot getting a few bike lengths lead over Paul on the 1st lap but knowing Paul would take risks he got past Steve during one of his many off course excursions but Steve kept Paul clearly in sight and I felt Steve just sat on the back of Paul for lap after lap forcing Paul to make mistakes and use energy up and then in the closing stages Steve pounced and looked as fresh as a daisy and it looked like tactics won the day as Paul was then like a bull to a red rag and was visibly doing all he could do to get back the lead and it was not talent that stopped him getting past but simply exhaustion or that's what it appeared to be from my view, but credit to Steve and a superb battle to watch for the spectators, Darren Osborne was my tip for race victory in the class but a bad start and polite nature of Darren's riding held him back at times and was always on the back foot but as the event unfolded he got into his groove and made good headway into the leaders but had to make do with the final podium, not quite sure what happened to Chris (Ginge) Howman but was a bit behind the front two even on the first lap and Ginge is another polite rider and I think today that was a major stumbling block for certain riders but Ginge still managed 4th and did plenty of airborne styling for me, 5th and a great ride in the A class for Andy Sharp who like wine is getting better as he ages and very much loves this sport with passion, 6th for Martin Turner who does make me smile as he rides proper balls out MX style for first couple of laps bouncing from tree to tree and then he settles into a more enduro style and makes steady progress but still an entertaining rider to watch.
Veteran A Over 50 Class was won in dominant fashion by Steve Cook.

Clubman A Class
Another super battle between two riders with such similar styles and abilities that went down to the wire between Stuart King and Richard Ball and from what I saw I could not really separate them but just felt that Stuart rode slightly less aggressive that seemed to give him the winning edge in the closing stages as the loop deteriorated but both completed 11 laps, Josh Kirby took a well-deserved final podium and seems to becoming a very intelligent rider that seems to be able to handle any terrain in all weather conditions and very much a mature brain on young shoulders, Great to see Steven Cooper again and did a lot better than I thought he would in such tight nagger conditions and to his credit his body language showed fitness and enjoyment and a well-earned 4th place, 5th went to Jamie Moller who looked happy out there and dare I say much improved from last time I saw him and am thinking he is a lot more suited to the forest events which clearly shows, 6th Keith Workman seems to have a new lease of life since getting his new steed and very much a happier looking Keith in the saddle and seems to be back where he was a couple of years back before he had a serious off… so Keith "Sky's the limit my friend", 7th and great to see him in the SEEC is Dan Jarrat who I think maybe listening to me regarding points make prizes as no doubting his talent but is very much a bull in a china shop and is awesome for 2 laps but then runs out of steam, good effort today Dan.

Veteran B Class
Yet again The Machine Manny Bernardez takes a podium yet this time he has the top one with a superb ride and did not side tracked by pressure from Tom Moore who was really pushing and good to see Tom back on top form again to take 2nd but consistency and smooth riding by many won the day, 3rd and top marks for effort as Mick Stradwick looked and rode like he really wanted something from today and it paid off and was on same lap as leaders at finish, 4th to Dene Hart who seems to look younger every time I see him and very much like the movie (The Curious case of Benjamin Button) but it seems to be reflecting in his results and riding as very much on it today and at times very unlike Dene he looked a bit out of shape…. Exciting times Dene, 5th and as one would expect Adrian Wilkins always a finisher and always at the pointed end and is such a solid reliable competitor and has the best poker face in the series, My good friend Timmy Newman looked faster and better than his 6th place depicts as looked happy out there all day, Gareth Allen 7th place….. not sure why or how but maybe the pressure of his lovely wife Sharron watching from the side lines (Only Kidding), I know Gareth loves forest events but today there was a lot of hazards in the form of stumps and felled trees which I know detracts him from the job in hand as really should be top 3 at the very least but a small consolation is that he beat his good friend Tony Nother 8th who did well and as stubborn as he can be he just dug in and a much earned finish , Andy Marriner was the villain today by not only crashing and ending his day early but he was also responsible for "The Kerbinators" crash whilst the "The Kerbinator was Leading by a long margin (am i making you feel bad Andy lol...... i have passed your personal details onto "The Kerbintors" entourage , when i asked "the Kerbinator about the incident he gave me £10 and said tell the boy to get some Mirrors as he needs to watch his back from now on , (lol), dangerous Dave Alexander was riding well and had his usual smile on the still lovely looking BMW until a puncture ended his day early,

Veteran B Over 50 Class was won by Colin Cowley with 10 laps completed and a superb runners up spot from Orlando Bayne Powell with 9 very hard earned laps, 3rd was Peter Moller, 4th was Timothy Tubb whom I had a great 30 minute chat with prior to start which was nice for me and I thought it may have been inspirational for Tim …… obviously not …. Come on Tim this had 2nd place written all over it for you (Bollocking over with), 5th Ian Wilson who without doubt has improved massively since last time here back in April (I think) and yes I feel his Romaniacs event has given him some personal confidence which showed today and was in 2nd spot for a while and unsure why the 5th place but well done Ian.

Clubman B Class
Class winner was very much the silent assassin today was London Fire Brigade rider John Gilbertson who just went about his business unaware of the battle behind between his fellow LFB rider Ben Young and Rob Knight with Ben currently riding the best I have ever seen and is clearly oozing confidence and kept pressure on Rob throughout and unlucky with a few mistakes that cost him time, whereas Rob seemed to be more cautious today with no show boating as points make prizes and Rob is definitely a thinking rider and I think that attitude got him the runners up spot from Ben, another good result for Phillip Reynolds who is becoming a good all rounder and does not seem to have any obvious weaknesses, 5th and after such a long time off a bike Martin Biles will be chuffed with that result and to be fair did not show any signs of not riding, 6th Matty Taylor, 7th to The Legend himself Rob (The Muss) Mussell who has had his riding of late kerbed by the lovely Mrs Muss (Batting well above your average their Rob) as he does injure himself quite a bit rode well albeit a bit of a fairy over the wee obstacles but never less a finish and a middle finger up to others (Best not mention them)(yes i am a coward) welcome back to "The Muss", 8th Cole Nother who just seemed to do the job in hand and not once did i see him in trouble once so good ride, 9th and great to see back on a bike Shaun Hayward and it did not show as rode as well as he ever did and his body language was clear in that he was enjoying and good to see Mrs H there as well although she does not seem to smile much :, Jonathan Casey did not seem to get into the swing of things today and looked a little out of sorts but managed top 10, Other Facebook Notables, Newcomer to me Peter Belton who rode a lot better that his position depicts and look forward to seeing him ride again, Rob Giles mmmm not quite so sure it was Rob under his gear as too much air under the wheels for the Rob i know and love lol, a very confident looking Rob which was good to see, Rich Hobbs down this far in results so not sure if he had bike or rider problem but looked happy enough each time i saw him..... not that i could miss him with that race top on (hee hee), Jonathan Starkey as colourful as ever kept out of mischief and ever the polite rider pulling over, Andre Els whom i have not seen for ages was on a new bit of kit and good to see it was not orange and looked as happy as a pig in shit but not in the results ? Chris Welch also on new machinery that was a horrible shade of orange did not chose a good venue to ride with a broken thumb so early bath for big Chris.

Sportsman Class
Winner of class Neil Franks is a new rider to me and much talented on Clubman A times and laps, Runner up Richard Turner who looked very much on form and at one with the course, 3rd and what a comeback for Stuart Maunder after a long layoff and did look the worse for wear towards the end, Good to see Carl Boroman back riding as been a very long time and he seemed to like course and got a 6th place for his efforts, 7th Justin Hindley who in my eyes seemed to get stronger as the event wore on and is probably fitter than what he looks as that is a tough bike to ride on a course like this so a well done to you Justin, Nick Summers 8th did not look happy today and for what reason i have no idea but maybe still recovering from the Dawn 2 Dusk , Matt Casey 9th who is in my bad books for not wearing his Teamsnapper Hoody looked happier out there than his Dad but a great learning curve track for the Curly boy wonder, Nick Rumble has huge Gonads but no brains and that's enough said, Teenager Louis Zullo completed 7 laps in what i think is his only 2 ever enduro event and looked confident and comfortable and i personally would like to see him ride more often as definitely some talent there, Roy Grassie took a very steady approach to the course but as the event wore on he got more confident and looked happier, My good friend Myles Walsh was as nervous as ever at the start but once he got going and got into a rhythm he was having a ball and another great learning day for him. Lance (Goose Hog) was running well up the front until the dying moments and had run out of fuel..... lesson learnt i hope Goose, but was riding well and obviously enjoying immensely until that moment.

SEEC H & H RD3 Slab Common 23-09-12
Kingston and District MCC

It would seem that if you put Kingston MCC and Slab Common together you get rain and lots of it and you have to feel sorry for them as they put so much work into their events but in typical Kingston style they just grinned and got on with it, they had a 5 mile loop which thankfully used a lot of the wooded areas but Slab would not be Slab without the sand so they made sure the stuff they gave the riders was deep and deep it was in places and on a personal note i enjoyed the loop as no stoppers but still tricky in places.

Championship Class
Sadly only three entries in the elite class bearing in mind ISDE has at least 4 southern championship riders in Germany, Tyson Maytom-Jones(Midwest-Husaberg) was my pre race favourite but went out on lap one, am not sure why but saw him heading back to pits very slowly, which let REME hot shot Tony Cotty (KTM)take the lead and looking comfortable until his seat fell off and that was the end of his day which left Andrew Gorse (KTM) on his own on a brand new looking 450 KTM, although Andrew started quite cautiously he definitely picked the pace up and got better as event wore on to take the class win.

Expert Class
Tom Moss (Yamaha) led the whole pack for a good few laps and it was looking like a win on the cards but an unscheduled stop for broken throttle resulted in an early shower but it won't be long before Tom gets his bit of luck, 3rd went to Islander Rob Taylor (Husaberg) with 9 laps, 2nd also on 9 laps KTM mounted Oleg Savochkin who had a very good ride, but no doubting the winner with 12 laps completed Teamsnapper/Finch Cycles rider Malcolm Coles (Yamaha)who looked very happy in the woods but dare i say not quite so committed through the deep sand, but knowing Malcolm so i am sure he listened to Dad and rode accordingly.

Veteran A Class
Am a bit confused on this one as results show different to what i thought as i had good friend Mad Dog Mark Kirby (KTM) the clear winner by a good margin and Mad Dog himself thought he had won and have to say his experience really showed in these conditions and looked so comfortable and consistent lap after lap, results show winner as Chris Howman(KTM) who was having great battle on and off with Peter Archer (KTM) who came home 3rd and what a showman Peter is even in such testing conditions,4th on the RAF Blue Honda Paul Hearn who rode superb and by far the most consistent rider in the field and although i know Paul hates these conditions it did not show in his riding, Darren Osborne (PH M/Cycles KTM) 5th.

Clubman A Class
Yet again the battle of brothers Mair on their splendid well prepared Maico's with Jason taking top honours from Brad with both posting 13 laps each, 3rd to Yamaha mounted Jevan Williams with 12 laps posted, who seemed to get more confident as event wore on, Teamsnapper rider Steve White came home 4th also on 12 laps, but will forgive his non podium as he did buy me a burger and cuppa, LFB rider Darren Lee and Teamsnapper Rider Richard Morgan both DNF'd.

Veteran B Class
A great ride by Andrew Sharp (KTM) to take class win with 12 laps and one thing you get with Andrew is consistency and that never give up attitude and that was the recipe for success here today, 3 riders shared 2nd place all on 10 laps a piece Colin Cowley (Teamsnapper KTM), Stephen Brooman (KTM), and Adrian Wilkins (Gas Gas), 5th Tony Nother (Husky) and 6th on his Husaberg Simon Minch.

Clubman B Class
A great result for Teamsnapper rider Keith Workman (KTM) who just enjoys riding no matter what conditions he just adapts and in usual Keith style his consistency paid off for class win, Andrew Gilden (KTM) took 2nd which he must be happy with as not ridden as much this year and still trying to gain confidence back after nasty crash earlier in season, 3rd LFB rider John Gilbertson, 4th to Normandy MCC rider Richard Jones who rode best i have seen especially in these conditions with 10 completed laps posted, 5th to the brightly coloured Felix Warren (KTM) who looked a lot better out there than his placing, Stephen Edy (Yamaha) 6th place, 7th on his new steed Andy Marriner (Teamsnapper Husky) who took a few laps to get adjusted to the 125 characteristics but am sure be regular top 5 soon.

Sportsman Class
With 11 laps posted i would hardly call winner Richard Ball (KTM) a sportsman rider but never less an easy win, 2nd to REME rider Craig Hunter (Yamaha) who really is showing improvements event after event, 3rd was shared between Yamaha mounted Frederic Torres and REME rider Jake Morgan (Yamaha), 5th was shared between James Ford (Suzuki) , REME rider Jamie Holloman (Yamaha) and Cole Nother (Honda) who looked a lot quicker than his placing shows, 7th Kawasaki mounted Robert Backshall, two young ladies Emelia Zullo (Honda)and Sophie Brady (Yamaha)who were having their first enduro event came home joint 8th with 5 laps posted which in these conditions is nothing short of fantastic (Well done girls).

Despite the rain the event was enjoyed and successful.
Well done Kingston and District MCC.
