Productive European trip for MPS Racing Husqvarna

MPS Racing Husqvarna recently enjoyed a highly successful three-week European trip, participating in the opening round of the European Enduro Championship and rounds one and two of the FIM Enduro World Championship.

With the opening round of the EEC in Spain taking place just one weekend before the first two rounds of the EWC in Spain and Portugal, the team used it as an opportunity to gain some valuable competition at the highest level possible.

Getting their trip off to a strong start, both Jamie Lewis and Jack Rowland delivered excellent performances in their respective classes at the EEC. Competing in the Senior Enduro 2 category, Lewis secured a winning result on day one before finishing second on day two to take control of the championship lead, while also ending his weekend as runner-up in the outright classification.

Almost mirroring Lewis’ results in the Senior Enduro 1 class, Rowland enjoyed a successful outing at the EEC. Scoring a 2-3 result, Rowland lies second overall in the championship. Performing solidly in outright classification, Rowland placed fourth overall.

Making his debut ride in the Enduro World Championship, Lewis quickly settled into the highly competitive Enduro 2 class. Tenth and 11th in Catalunya, the Husqvarna rider upped his pace one week later to claim a career best seventh on day one and then placed eighth on day two to end the GP of Portugal eighth overall in the series.

Only able competing in the GP of Catalunya due to work commitments, Rowland enjoyed mixed results in the Enduro Junior class. Finishing 11th on a crash filled day one, Rowland limited his mistakes and improved to an impressive ninth on day two.

For the team’s third rider Rob Johnson the trip was met with mixed fortunes. Claiming fifth on day two in the Junior E2/E3 class at the EEC opener showed the Husqvarna rider’s true potential. But a severe bout of food poisoning left him off his game during the first two rounds of the EWC

Jamie Lewis: “I’ve really enjoyed these last three weekends. Starting the trip off by getting the points lead in the EEC was fantastic and it gave me great confidence leading into the EWC. It took some time to settle into the EWC but once I did I began to find my feet. My goal was to race inside the top ten but finishing seventh in Portugal was even better than I expected.”

Jack Rowland: “It was great to start off the EEC in second. It was my first time racing in the Senior E1 class so it’s very rewarding to be already on pace with the leaders. Due to work commitments I was only able to compete in the GP of Catalunya. I made too many mistakes on day one but improved to finish ninth on day two.”
