TRACKS AT THE NEUADD! 4th August Report by Hannah Hope Pictures by Alan Rogers. R.Y.M.X.C ran round 12 of their club championship this weekend at The Neuadd Penybont. The heavy rain did not deter them as they started racing at 10 am and ran all three blocks and were finished up by 3.15pm. First off the gate to brave the wet conditions was the autos and juniors. Tomos Wright was not fazed by the weather and took two out of three race wins and was unlucky in the last race as his bike wasn't as keen for the weather as Tomos was which caused him a DNF. Adam Thomas was also battling the conditions well and took two seconds and was also unlucky to have a DNF in race three. Rheanna Morgan-Rogers and Levi Davies had some very exciting battles throughout the day and Levi living up to his 2012 trophy title "True Grit" stormed the field to take his first ever race win in the last race and the over all win of the day! The novice autos were troopers facing some very difficult races but Sion Evans managed two race wins, closely followed by Sion Wright with two race seconds, but luck wasn't on the boys sides as both Sions and Iestyn Morgan were unable to finish the final race! Bad lucks boys but outstanding riding, a big well done to you all! Also out with the autos were the juniors with Matthew Harries taking two race wins and a second, Trystan Williams was battling with Matthew and took one race win from him and battled on to come out with a second and fourth. Connor Thomas and Carwyn Rosser battled throughout the day and gave some good spectating. Further down the field the boys were still pushing hard as the rain came down and Kian Thomas, Charlie Morgan and Jack Probert had battles on their own swapping and changing places as races progressed. Next on the gate was the big and small wheels. Small wheel rider Ryan Rowlands who was recently back from injury the first race win, but Jamie Evans was close on his tail and wasn't going to give in easily. Billy Jones put the pressure on Jamie and Ryan in race two and took the win and continued his well deserved winning streak in race three, followed by Jamie. Harry Edwardes had a brilliant day and pushed hard ahead of Jack Samuels, Giles Jones was in amongst the boys giving them a run for their money coming out with two thirds and a sixth. It wasn't the best day for Iwan Roberts as he had to miss out the last two races due to mechanicals but took a well deserved seventh in the first race, hot on his tail was Kyle Biggs who has come back from injury very well to race consistently all day. Alex Powell and Shauna Hope showed commitment finishing all three races pushing hard all day! The big wheel riders were lacking entry wise but the racing certainly wasn't, Callum Evans stormed the racing with three well deserved wins as he pushed hard and wasn't fazed with what he was faced with. Ieuan Morgan was to follow with three seconds and Hannah Pickersgill who was very determined took three thirds with some very good rides, well done! The seniors was a big class and full of action throughout the field. Kieron Cooke was first but right with him was Adam James with close battles all day which swapped and changed but Adam took took two out of three wins from keiron. Joe Roberts took to the wet weather like a duck to water as the condtions got worse his race positions got better taking a fifth and two thirds. The ever improving Jake Green a deserved third and two fourths. Trystan Leyshon stuck too and rode well all day. Kiaron Watkins didn't think too much of the wet weather but still showed commitment and finished all three races. Further down the field Connor Friel and Tamara Morgan battled through the raced with Connor having a very good race in race two uping his game! Well done to all riders!
A big thank you to all riders, spectators, marshalls, land owner and committee for braving the weather and pulling off a great event!
After the poor weather and the disappointment of cancelling round 3, Spring seems to have finally arrived and it was all go for round 4 of the RYMXC club champs at Cwmithig hill Rhayader! This was also a day to remember as it was the first time the club tried its new sidecar class and it proved a winner for the daredevil riders, spectators and all the other racers in the paddock! The Autos got round 4 underway, yet again the class act shone through when Tomos Wright took three straight wins! Second place was a tight points race but despite Connor Downes two second places, his 6th place in the second race dropped him to third and left the gates open to Adam Thomas to take 2nd. A superb days riding by Rheanna Rogers gave her a very solid and well deserved 4th place finish. Well done to all the autos on tackling the big hill side circuit. Next up was the Junior class and it was Matthew Harries yet again taking all three wins with ease. With two seconds and a fourth, Kian Thomas took second overall. With a second and third and a fourth it was Sion Hughes who took third place, just ahead of Carwyn Rosser in fourth. The small wheeled 85s were out next. After a second in the first race, it was nice to see long time club member Iwan Roberts taking the last two wins and first overall. Kyle Biggs put a strong day together taking second overall and local lad Jamie Evans won the first race and finished third on the day. Alex Walton was in a class of his own as he racked up his three race wins and took the overall in the big wheeled 85 class. Second place was a different story as Callum Evans and Ieaun Morgan were tied on points after the second race, but in the last race Ieaun took second place which gave him a second on the day, leaving Callum after a good ride, in third! In the Seniors class it was frequent visitor to the club Kieran Cooke who took three strong wins and looked superb. British Enduro Clubman contender Adam James had a racing filled day as he led and pushed through the pack on his way to 2nd overall. Dai Lloyd who also had to work hard and took three thirds. Veterans is a new and growing class this season. Round 4 saw four of the old guard hit the track. Christian Walton literally did hit the track off the first start but battled back to first and took the overall with three wins. A solid day was quietly put together by Dave Birch and he took second and Gary Jones took third. Racing with the vets were the Rookies, a packed class full of good racing saw number 121 Paul Williams take first place, he was followed home to second overall by Kevin James and the top three was finished off by Hannah Hope taking three thirds. In the clubman class, Neil Thomas started his day well taking the first two wins and backing them up with a second place in the last race he guaranteed first overall. Getting stronger as the day went on was Rory Crisp taking the final race win and second on the day. A very strong third place was taking by local Enduro rider Aaron Martin. The last class of the day, was the expert class. Fan favourite Adam Morris took all three wins and the overall but not without being hounded by local rider Marc Evans in the first two races but Marc had to settle for second overall on the day. Taking a fourth a third and a second was Gareth Hughes and after a strong day took third overall.
It was another brilliant days racing at RYMXC with a great friendly atmosphere. The sidecars added to the occasion and it will happen again. Please join us for rounds 5 and 6 at the Neuadd, Penybont and the 11TH/12th May! Autos 1st Tomos Wright 2nd Connor Downes 3rd Adam Thomas 4th Rheanna
Rogers 5th Corey Jamiesan Rhayader Youth Motocross Club After a warm sunny day on Saturday, it seemed that spring was upon us but Sunday was a different story, as the wintery wind swept through the paddock at Saintswell, the sun refused to break through and a decision had to made whether to run! Once all the new licences were issued and the new riders had been checked and briefed the track had thawed and it time to go racing!! The Autos got the new season underway, ice cool Tomos Wright proving he was the one to beat as he took three straight wins! Conner Downes also had a very comfortable ride with three seconds and keeping the boys honest in third place was Rheanna Rogers. Adam Thomas and Levi Davies rounding out the top 5 with good rides! Next up was the Junior class, newcomer to the club Matthew Harries was the class act taking all three wins with ease. With two seconds and a third, Eamyn Rosser took second overall and with two fifths and a second, Kian Thomas just edged Conner Thomas to third place. The small wheeled 85s were out next, it was Junior champ Ryan Rowlands chance to show everybody what he could do in his new class, Ryan sure did that taking two race wins, but with a mechanical failure in the final race he dropped to sixth on the day! Picking up the honours with a superb ride was Jamie Evans, second pace was Iwan Roberts who took the final race win and in third was Giles Jones! Some cracking racing was provided by Alex Walton and Ieuan Morgan in the big wheeled class! After several passes on each other, it was Ieuan who took the first race win, but in the final two races Alex showed what a class act he is by taking both wins, with a lot of pressure from Ieuan. Brilliant clean racing by both lads. Third place was Joe Cod, just beating Callum Evans by two points! In the Seniors it was an old face of Joel Hughes taking the honours with three wins over Adam James in second. This was Adams first race since he broke his shoulder so was a superb result. There was some close racing for third place but it was Dai Lloyd who beat Katie Walker to third by two points! Veterans is a new class to RYMXC and although it lacked in quantity, as there was only two riders, it did not lack in quality as Cristian Walton and Jonathon Williams set a very fast pace. Walton took the honours at the end of the day! Racing with the Vets were the Rookies, a class full of good racing! Hannah Hope and Paul Williams were battling for the win but Paul held strong to narrowly to take all three wins. Matty Baynhem put a strong day together just getting second place above Hannah! Another new class was Clubman, it had a good entry and provided some great racing. After a second in the first race Danny Morris raised his game to take the final two wins and the overall on the day! Neil Thomas took a strong second with a top three in every race, followed by local enduro rider Aaron Martin in third! Last out but not least, was the expert class. Garin Rosser took the first two wins and the overall but not without being hounded by local rider Marc Evans who seemed desperate to get his first MX win, both lads set a very fast pace and there was very little in it, but Marc got his wish by winning the final race of the day! Shaun Buchan also riding very well to take third! Despite the cold, the first round of the RYMXC club championship was
superb, with racing good enough to warm everyone up for the year! The next
round is at Cwmithig on 24th March. Hope to see you all there! |
