Rhayader Youth MX Club

On Sunday 10th May 2015 Rhayader Youth MX Club ran round 3 of the club championship at the main Cwmythig Hill track. The hard work of the small committee ensured the track was at its best and the riders were lined up ready to compete.

The new novice auto class again proved popular and the crowd cheered on these determined little racers, some as young as 6 yrs old. Harley Kendrick-Jones proved he was the one to watch, again taking all three race wins. Rhayader Youth MX Club

On Sunday 12th April 2015 Rhayader Youth MX Club got their season under way, after canceling round 1 because of bad weather, with round 2 off the club championship at the popular Saints Well track, with kind permission of the Rees family. After the Easter sunshine all week, the track was prepped to perfection and the riders ready to compete.

The smaller purposely designed track was perfect for the novice autos and the crowd got behind these mini racers. Harley Kendrick-Jones showed his style taking all three race wins. Brody Biggs was determined to put up a battle, leading on the last lap in race two before Harley made the pass for the 1st place position just before the chequered flag, leaving Brody settle for three well-deserved 2nds. Lady rider Tamzin Evans battled all day for three 3rds, showing the boys how to take the starts with three hole shots! Liam Regan worked hard for three 4ths and new lady rider Chloe Price had a great first event with three 5ths.

The auto’s and juniors followed and it was Levi Davies who took the overall win in the auto’s, although Levi’s bike problems in race one meant he had to settle for a 2nd in that race. The ever-determined Sion Wright battled hard for overall 2nd spot, with a win in race one.
Keeping consistent positions all day the juniors battled hard. It was the smooth style of Tomos Wright giving him three race wins, whilst Connor Downes chased for three well-deserved 2nds. Sion Evans on his first junior round took three 3rds and also having just moved up from the autos, lady rider Rheanna Morgan-Rogers got three 4ths. Iestyn Morgan competed in two of the three races with two 5ths.

The SW and BW85’s were next to take the track with the battle between mates Mathew Harries and Carwyn Rosser. Math worked hard for three well deserved 1sts whilst Carwyn settled for three 2nds. The battle between Trystan Williams, Iwan Randall Evans and Jack Probert saw them all get that sought after 3rd place during the day, but it was Trystan’s two 4ths that gave him 3rd overall , with Iwan getting 4th, Jack 5th and Josh Noon chasing the pack for a hard fought 5th overall.

The battle in the BW85’s was between Jack Samuel, Billy Jones and Kyle Biggs with Harry Edwardes riding consistently all day taking three 3rds, he was unlucky to finish with an overall 4th. It was Jack who got the overall win with a 1st in races one and two and a 4th in race three. Billy made Jack work for it getting a 4th in race one, 2nd in race two and 1st in the final race giving him 2nd overall. Kyle battled for 3rd overall with two 2nds and a 4th , whilst further down the field the lady riders were having their own battle with Shauna Hope steaming ahead to take consistent 5th spot and finishing with a well-deserved 5th overall, ahead of Emily Noon in 6th and Olivia Walton in 7th with just one point between them.

The senior race was next on the line and the fast racing in this class never disappoints. Setting the pace it was Brooklyn Evans who took all three race wins. Iwan Roberts rode fast and furious all day, taking the hole shot in two out of the three races and showed determination to get him 2nd overall, with Callum Evans chasing for a well-deserved 3rd place with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Rhys Roberts and Jamie Evans finished 4th and 5th consecutively with equal points, whilst Tom Watkins was just two points behind in 6th.

The adult classes rode together with Paul Williams taking two out of the three race wins in the novice class, but not competing in race 3 saw him finish in overall 9th spot. Josh Atkins, with a 2nd, 3rd and 5th took the overall novice 1st place, with a win in race three giving Scott Mayhew overall 2nd on equal points with Christian Edwards in 3rd and RYMXC’s lady rider Tamara Morgan who had a great day with a 2nd and a 3rd throughout the day finishing in 4th.

In the open it was the battle between Wayne Price and Shaun Buchan that entertained the spectators. Wayne, who only rode twice last year, finished in top spot with two race wins. Shaun had a 1st in race one and 2nd in race three, but with a DNF due to a puncture in race two, finished in overall 8th position. Marc Evans was never far away with a 2nd and two 3rds giving him the overall 2nd and Ieauan Morgan showed his normal determination with three 4ths to get 3rd overall. Battling with Ieauan was Danny Morris who got an overall 4th with a 3rd and two 5ths.

In the AMX class, it was Duncan Powell and Jack Weston who took the first and second spot in the first two races but with neither competing in race three, they had to settle for 3rd and 4th consecutively. Never far behind was Luke Morgan with two 3rds and a win in race three saw Luke take the overall 1st position, with Ryan Kinsey Jones finishing in overall 2nd place with a 6th, 5th and 3rd. Jonathon Evans took the overall 5th with a 5th in race one, a DNF in race two and a 2nd in race three, with Ben Anderson having to settle for 6th spot after getting 4th in races one and two but not competing in race three.

The vets Steve Bevan and Ben Davies battled hard with Steve taking all three race wins, leaving Ben in overall 2nd place.

The sidecars are always the spectators favourite and they didn’t disappoint. Ahead of the pack of eleven all day, were duo Jon Williams and Neil James, finishing in a well-deserved top spot. With two 2nds and a 3rd it was David Williams and Simon Brown who finished in second place, just two points ahead of Dan Lawry and Sam Wilkinson who after 3rds in races one and two got ahead for a 2nd in race three to finish 3rd overall. With a 4th and two 6ths it was Gareth Rowlands and Will Green achieving overall 4th and with two 5ths and an 8th it was Denzal Hutton and George Williams who finished in overall 5th. A disappointing DNF in race one put Martin Rowan and Anthony Mills down the points table but they rode well with a 5th in race two and a 4th in race 3 to finish 9th overall. A 4th in race one saw Iwan Evans and Aled Evans start their day well, they went onto battle for a 7th in race two but a DNF in race three saw them end their day with 10th overall.
