Wyre Forest Off Road Winter Series Round 1 Wyre Forest Off Road Hosted the first round of its winter series at the well established venue of Coney Green Farm, Stourport On Severn. The all weather track lived up to its name and allowed the WFOR track building team the opportunity to open the season with a great but tough track. The recent rain had made little impact to the majority of the track with just a couple of sticky areas to negotiate. The track was just over a 10 minute lap which had a bit of everything in apart from any where other than the pits to get any rest, lose of concentration for just a second would cost valuable time in the race.
The very competetive vets Class saw Dave wilcock take the win just a mere 10 seconds in front of Sean O'neil who had to settle for 2nd place, He later reported he had spent a bit of time upside down after some of the slippy sections caught him out. Martin Jakeman put in yet another solid finish to take 3rd place. The clash of the Titans came in the form of the Clubman class nothing seperated the top four riders for the full 2 hours, 3 of which are WFOR Youth riders recently promoted to the class. Jack Sanders is really starting to find some extra pace in his racing and took the class win, Jason Billam took 2nd place with Bradley Sullivan in 3rd & Vinnie Brown just seconds away in 4th. The biggest group of the day was the novice class which had the dawnting task of a very challenging track to cope with & cope is exactly what they did, Very few needed the assistance of the very experienced marshalling staff. Gavin Roberts just managed to slip through before the 2hr flag dropped allowing him to complete 10 laps and win his class, Phil Jones was just a few seconds late and might have caught Gavin on his last lap but he had to settle for 2nd place on 9 laps, Kieran Jordan took the final podium postion to finish 3rd. The open youth class were last to leave the start line, Joseph Davies took and early lead and blasted out 8 laps on his 85cc machine to take the class win, 2nd place finisher on the same amount of laps was Patrick Borge with Eddy Emery not far behind in 3rd place.
Simon Lang took the win in the 4x4 Class 2 laps ahead of Newil Martin in 2nd, Clubman rider Endaf Owen took the win over Miles Woodward in 2nd& Dale Roberts in 3rd. Cloe Green in her very 1st race won the Novice class after only having a couple of hours practice the weekend before. The open Youth class saw all 12 riders doing battle on there 250cc quads, giving most of the adult a good run for their money, Matty Morris was to be the victor & class winner with George Betton in 2nd & Aaron Davies in 3rd. A massive thank you to all the riders that supported the event & we hope to see you all at the next one, It also goes without saying, Another big Thank you to all the marshalls who give up their time to help out with the racing & track building.
