Rhayader Youth Motocross Club 'RYMXC' held their eighth Annual Presentation Evening on Saturday 30th November 2013 at Rhayader Leisure Centre where they had the pleasure of two very special guests, rising stars in the MX scene, Nathan and Ben Watson. The Club is affiliated to the 'BSMA' British Schoolboy Motocross Association and has had another extremely successful season having run 14 Club Championship Rounds, 5 Welsh Championship Rounds and jointly hosted the BSMA Team Event, all at local tracks. Mr
Adam Rees compared for the evening, and kicked off the proceedings by
welcoming everyone and introducing Nathan and Ben, this was followed by both
Nathan and Ben talking about their seasons and plans for 2014, which we all
enjoyed! Then came the buffet, with some delicious food made by Hafod
Catering from Crossgates. Back on the stage, Adam talked about the 2013 season, including the very successful Team Event in which RYMXC came 3rd overall with all teams competing well and wins from the teams in the SW 85’s (Ryan Rowlands, Iwan Roberts, Billy Jones, Jack Samuel and Kyle Biggs), the BW 85’s (Alex Walton, Ieuan Morgan, Callum Evans, Hannah Pickersgill and Rhys Roberts) and AMX open (Shaun Buchan, Oli Paine, Marc Evans, Adam Rees and Ryan Nicholls). Adam congratulated all riders who had represented RYMXC in the BSMA finals in Little Silver, Devon and congratulated Alex Walton on his championship in the BW85’s. The girls also did the club proud in 2013 with good representation at the Girls Nationals held at Upton Court, and gave special congratulations to Rheanna Morgan-Rogers who took all wins and an overall championship in the Auto class. Adam then took the opportunity to thank retiring chairman Christian Walton, a founder member of the club, who has stood down after 8 years. He welcomed new chairman, Chris Wright, who we're all certain will continue to take the club from strength to strength. RYMXC has brilliant support and Adam took the opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work throughout the year. On behalf of RYMXC he thanked all club members, the riders, the parents, the marshals', all the girls in the lap-scoring shed, the track builders and everyone who has helped in running the events throughout the year. Huge thanks also went to the track owners Mr & Mrs Rees for Saint Wells Track Nr Bwlchysarnau, Mr Ray Collard and family for Neuadd Track Nr Pen-y-bont and Rhayader Motor Club for Cymithig Track, the continued support from all these tracks is so important for the future of the club. A big thank you was also said to all the sponsors: PAR Homes, Steve Plain Motorcyles, Off Road Only, TagZ, TNT Racing and Cliff Walton & Sons. Keeping us all safe, he thanked the local St.Johns for their commitment in 2013 and keeping us all fed, a big thanks was said to James Rees and Irene Wozencraft catering. The fantastic photos, videos and DVD's provide lasting memories and thanks for these went to Mr Alan Rogers, Red Rag Racing, Gemma James, Iwan Roberts and Carol Corbett, and to Dr Frank Morgan. The evening was tinged with sadness, as we remembered the late June Collard, who along with her husband Ray has supported the club for many years. A trophy in Junes memory will be presented next year for the Female Rider with the most Club Championship points. Janet Shaw along with Sarah Hope both worked hard to organise the presentation of awards for special guests Nathan and Ben Watson to give out and the trophies certainly did not disappoint!!
