Charlie Evans on the pipe
Rhayader MCC hosted their annual Jack Frost Enduro at Saintswell on
Sunday 3rd April. It was the 3rd round of the Welsh Enduro Championship. The conditions were perfect with rising temperatures
under a lightly overcast sky. There were 5 laps of the 12 miles figure
of 8 course for the Championship, Experts and Clubmen and one less for
the Vets and Sportsmen. Everyone got a taste of Welsh peat in the Red lion
outcheck before the worst section was cut out on the 2nd lap. The time
allowance of 55 minutes was slack but it tightened to 36 minutes for the
Experts. The 2nd stage consisted mostly of the test which weaved it's
way around the MX track. In the Championship class it was close but Charlie Evans (ORE Yamaha) beat Carl Jones
(MRS Sherco)
on every test to take the win by 24 seconds. Alex Walton was the best
Expert ahead of Dan Mundell and Adam James. Jay Thomas picked up a
penalty when he went into a check early. Brad Williams was on Jay's
minute and he instinctively followed Jay into the check to also pick up
60 points. Carl Tiley repeated his success - in the previous
weekend's
Drovers round - with another win in the Expert Vets. Ben Coleman from Coalville
was the best Clubman. Luke Thomas was runner up and Jared Stanfield was
3rd, Katie Walker was 4th. - Results
