2015 Wildwood Rock done and dusted Report Dan Poulson
Beta riders Ben and Dan Hemingway traveled around the World last weekend to compete in the Wildwood Rock Extreme Enduro in Australia. 2014 winner Ben Hemingway qualified well in the hill climb prologue and he started on the front row of the main 3 hour race with Dan Hemingway starting just behind him on the second row, Ben got a good jump off the line and by the end of the first lap he was sitting in second with Daniel Sanders leading by 15 seconds. Dan was showing little effect of the leg injury that has kept him of the bike for a year and he was running in 7th position, 1 hour into the race and at the end of the 2nd lap, Ben had managed to pass Sanders and he established a good 40 seconds lead. Things were starting to look good in the Beta camp, The end of the 3rd lap and it was time to refuel, but things had taken a turn, Ben had managed to crash and re injured his thumb, this had caused him to drop back into second place with Sanders pulling a 1.35 sec gap. When Dan stopped for fuel on lap 3 the race had taken its toll on his leg but this didn't stop him, a few pain killers and he was on his way. With Ben's Thumb out of action, he was having trouble holding onto the bike and a few times had the handle bars knocked clean from his hands causing him to crash late in the race, This allowed Matthew Phillips to sneak past for 2nd place, With the last lap board out, Ben was holding hard onto 3rd and looked like he would salvage a podium finish but with only a short distance to go to the finish line, Mitch Harper managed sneak past and pry away 3rd place, giving Ben a 4th place finish. Dan fought through the pain from the rod in his leg to finish 8th. Results
